Victom of Rudeness and Meanies.....

Ah, the eternal question. This is not the first time it has been asked, nor will it be the last. Another person answering a similar question gave an equation that I found useful:

Normal Person + Internet Anonymity = Jerk

Well, the person didn't use the word "jerk," but I don't feel comfortable writing the word he did use.

It basically means that people who are polite and kind in person can be rude without damaging their real life reputation, thanks to no one knowing who they really are. Since everyone really wants to let inner hostility out, the internet is seemingly the perfect place to do it.

Some people have different life experiences. Sometimes the rudeness has some truth in it. Ever here the saying, "The Truth Hurts"....

Anyway, I think you have to look at where you are coming from. It's so hard to tell a whole story or even get and emotion/feeling/tone across in 1000 words. So a question might be missing a few pieces or be misleading....which can lead people to answer differently.

Also, lots of people don't mean to be rude. For example, I'm a very STRONG writer. I take a stand and I argue my case. It might sound highly opinionated or rude, but it's just the style that it's written in. If was speaking to you in real life, then my tone would be much different.

Plus, no one is ever going to agree 100% with you. You will get some people who don't. But you risk that when you ask questions on here.

Because some people think that this is a place to goof off, but it is really to get people the right information. And also, some people just want the points!

People read a question and instead of thinking of an answer, think of how it applies to THEM and then get defensive.

It speaks more about them than it does about you, don't worry. Try to ignore them and not get sucked into their arguments.

I would like to add; "hurt people, hurt people."

Because it's anonomyous and they can be mean and no one will know who they are- those people are just jerks. Some people are just trying to be witty or sarcastic, and it just doesn't translate well.......and it comes out sounding nastier than intended.

Why is it that you let it bother you? If it bothers you enough to waste time whining about it... Get off the net.
