How come we can date back thousands of years to prehistoric times, Egyptians, and even Lucy, but there is no reference or anything that even shows anything about if Jesus existed or came here. You think we would have found something by now about him besides the Bible.

in the south? Have you ever eaten any breadfruit, if so how was it prepared?
My Mother-in-Law just gave me a seed from a breadfruit tree. My intentions are to plant it next year in Texas. I understand that they grow up to 6 feet high.

what do you feel is either the most important virtue and which one do you have the most difficulty with. and why.
for those that arnt Asatru or can't remember all 9 ... a list

COURAGE
By facing Life's struggles with courage, we constantly extend our capabilities. Without courage, nothing else can be done!

TRUTH
Blind faith has no place in Asatru. No pie-in-the-sky; we must act in this world as we see it and as it really is rather than calmly wait for the next

HONOR
We must be true to what we are, and we insist on acting with nobility rather than baseness. Our standards must be banners held high in our hearts.

FIDELITY
We stand true to our faith and our values. Loyalty is the basis for all enduring human activity, and we hold it in the highest esteem.

HOSPITALITY
The isolation and loneliness of modern life is not necessary. The willingness to share what one has with ones' fellows, especially travelers, is a vital part of our way of life.

DISCIPLINE
We hold to the discipline necessary to fulfill our purpose. We stand willing to exercise the self-control and steadfastness necessary in these difficult times.

INDUSTRIOUSNESS
Let us dare to be all that we can be! Let us take risks and taste the richness of life. Passivity is for sheep. We refuse to be mere spectators in life.

SELF-RELIANCE
We depend on our own strength and character to achieve our goals. We seek only the freedom necessary to our quest, whatever it may be.

PERSEVERANCE
We hold to our path until its completion and are not ashamed to be strong. The cult of the anti-hero will find no support in us, and the gods we follow are not for the weak.

I know that racists should be blamed for racism, & that terrorists should be blamed for terrorism. Everyone seems to think that racism is horrible & evil. But our society only seems to care when it's a White person being racist. Like when ever Liberals talk abou terrorism they always bring up Timothy McVeigh, to prove that you don't have to be a Muslim to be a terrorist. But when ever people talk about racism, very few people will point out a non-white person who is a racist, to prove that you don't have to White to be a racist. Why is it okay to blame today's White Americans for horrible things that other White Americans did in the past? Things like slavery, lynchings & Jim Crow Laws. But it isn't okay to blame Muslims for the current terrorism in the world. Which the over-whelming majority of is being committed by Islamic extremists.

A girl that i used to work with up until about 3 weeks ago got married to a guy last December and about a month later, he was deployed to Iraq. He was supposed to come home in November for a while, and he was killed 3 days ago in Bahgdad. I feel so bad for her, she was so exited for him to come home. While we hit it off, and hung out outside of work a few times, we werent like best friends or anything...I feel like I should do something nice for her. Her aunt is also my boss and she is hurting too...I dont want to be overbearing b/c im not a really good family friend or anything. Some people from my work are pitching in to get flowers, but I was thinking I would send a small bouquet, or maybe a card to them just from me. How much is too much?

I am establishing a company, charity, foundation, whatever you'd like to call it, for assisting people in a variety of areas. Of most concern would be friends and family of those with a health problem such as bipolarism, cancer, autism, etc. We provide counseling when we can, assistance with help when needed, and financial assistance when we can. The financial assistance is not for the medical bills. It is for helping to provide food, clothing, short term assistance with bills coupled with counseling and help on helping yourself out of a financial predicament, etc. If a family's money goes to the hospitals and treatment centers, then they often times find themselves having difficulties with food bills, water and electric bills, etc. We try to help in these situations. Maybe a family needs help finding daycare so they are able to assist their spouse in the hospital. This is not a non-profit 501(c)3 organization at the moment. Our resources have not reached that point yet.

Hello, Recently I have been seeking to gain knowledge and the Lord has provided. I didn't realize there were others who shared my views on the bible until I pulled into work last thursday and found a pamplet laying on the side of the road right at my door. I found myself agreeing with the majority of it and realized I wasn't alone. I went to a couple meetings and really enjoyed them. I highly commend the Jahovah's witnesses, but a few questions are still not answered. Forgive me for judging, im not quite sure how to pick the sheep out from the wolves with sheep mask yet, without judging. I realize not one is righteous and all are fallible, but I still found bad fruit among the Jehovah's. I just finished with a short book study from the Jehovahs, once I tried to ask some very reasonable questions I was quickly told that they had other meetings to attend. If good fruit wanted to gain more good fruit would one not spend all the time necessary to explain instead of being hasty?

How do you reconcile worshiping a deity that is capable of so much murder and killing?

Do you see the bible as symbolic and not literal?

This is really for those Christians here who can think by themselves.

This doesn't mean they're off by a million like 4.57 billion - 1 million, but they're off by 4.57 billiion divided by 6000 years or a factor of a million.

To put this in perspective, it's sorta like believing the distance between New York and San Francisco is only 28 feet or the distance between the Earth and the Moon is less than two thirds of a mile.

Many people think that Christians either are past struggling or they are hypocrites. The Bible says we are to confess our sins on to another. By letting others know that we struggle, maybe we can help others struggling with the same problems to draw nearer to Christ. And if anyone desires prayer, I will gladly pray for you as well.

Satan used to work hard to make people disobey ONE command of God.

Now he God some people (Christians) totally negating them.

Is this the pinacle of deception from Satan ?

but now I don't know. I starting realizing many liberals (that is the media's portrayal of them at least) supported every cause that made me feel ashamed to be born white, were pro-black favoritism, pro-immigrant no matter what, and most puzzlingly very supportive of muslims.
I still feel very strong on other liberal issues, and that won't change, but are there other liberals that feel like I do? Kind of like, now who represents me?

I have often heard protestants such as evangelicals and fundementalists say that they have been persecuted for their faith.

Do people think this is true at least in the western world.

I know many will be told to "go away" because of their narrow minded and often bigoted behavior but does that constitute persecution.

For example if one comes to your door and tells you that everything you believe is wrong and everything they believe is right and that you are doomed unless you change your mind and become like them. So if you dont believe that and respond with equal vigor are you persecuting them.

In short are they being persecuted or just being a pain in the a$$.

However, nonbelievers might look at the same brain scans and say the results are just neurons firing in the brain. Margaret Downey is a devout atheist and president of Atheist Alliance International. She agreed to have her brain scanned by Newberg.

Downey is passionate about her atheism.

"The reason I became an atheist is that all the questions I had about religion -- about God -- were left unanswered, and all the evidence I asked for have never appeared to me," she said.

Downey, who has studied religion since she was a child and read the Bible cover to cover, meditated about the concept of God.

So, is the brain of an atheist different from the brain of a believer? "We have actually found some evidence that there are differences between people who are very religious or spiritual, and people who are nonreligious," said Newberg.
And Newberg said Downey's brain did seem different in the scan. Her center of focus didn't light up the way it did with nuns and Buddhists.

Take the United States for example, as the colonists settled the west, missionaries went out and "converted" the Native Americans using lies of an imaginary place to scare them into believing.

When you are told that if you don't believe what I tell you to believe and pray what I tell you to pray than you will burn forever in hell, fear is a powerful motivator.

I have recently found the need to consider selling personal items, including wedding gifts (china, crystal, silverware, etc.), given to my husband and I over ten years ago. Our reasons are financial in nature and we have not used the items in many years if at all. The thought occured to me when I was shopping for a wedding gift recently and realized the monetary value of some items I have. I normally wouldn't have considered it further but we really could use the money right now.
