This doesn't mean they're off by a million like 4.57 billion - 1 million, but they're off by 4.57 billiion divided by 6000 years or a factor of a million.

To put this in perspective, it's sorta like believing the distance between New York and San Francisco is only 28 feet or the distance between the Earth and the Moon is less than two thirds of a mile.

You would need to take a plane to the moon because it's still two thirds of a mile from the surface of the Earth. :P

Wait, you mean I can't bike to the Moon? You just ruined my weekend plans. I was going to ride around the Mare Imbrium.

To answer this, we must take the position of Creationism. (Otherwise this question is already irrelevant)

So, let me ask this: when God created Adam, was adam a baby or an adult with an age?
(the answer is an adult with an age)

Then let me ask: What does an earth of 0 age look like?
(just to point out the silliness of that question)

So, when God created the Earth, was the Earth a bunch of nebulous space dust? or was it a fully formed planet with an age?

my point being, when God created the earth, by our measurement standards, it already had an age.

If at the beginning of time, we had adult humans, then at the beginning of time, we had a planet that was billions of years old.

...If we believe in creation.

What's scarier is that they think the end of the world is near and they are actually welcoming that. Not the kind of attitude we need to build a sound future for our children.
