Our National anthem is so archaic! I despise it as well. Most nations have a national anthem that is in some way about the country or the people.
Ours? one person - the reigning monarch. It sucks and the the tune is awful too- it's like a dirge!
I want a national anthem that I would be *proud* to sing.

Apparently I'm the only one here, who likes "God save the Queen". I think it's one of the best National Anthems, and I'm not even English.

The American national anthem actually comes from an old drinking song, the melody that is.
It is hard to sing, has bizarre words and people seem to have trouble remembering it.
As for the British one, is that God Save the Queen or something? what does the queen do anyway?

It always sounds so dreary alongside other countries national anthems. I hate it too and I'm English.

Are you talking about "God Save Our Gracious Queen"? I'm a true patriot, yet even I think it's a little shitty. Mind you, "Rule Britainia" - now there's an anthem! "Rule Britainia; Britainia rules the waves, Britons never never never shall be slaves"! Brilliant. Which one is our official anthem?
Mind you, they're still infinitely better than rap.
Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention - in spite of my earlier remark, I do love our Queen. She is lovely really. Everyone hates her! Why? You're all just JEALOUS!!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, in your case you have judged our national anthem by simply saying "crap".
Instead of posting stupid questions on here why don't you go and get a manicure or a tan because thats probably all you're good for.

because its a unionist song for England Scotland wales and northern Ireland, lets have our own anthem

ye crap!exactly!i mean i dont wanna sing "god save the queen!the glorious queen.im sorry but i dont think shes glorious and noble and all the rest.and it just doesnt seem fitting for a sporting event.not just football but anything.i hate it!

Because its out of date and some of us do not have a 'god' to save the queen
