Very curious about prayers. Is it really just wishing? And we all know, wishing cant make it so. Or is there more to it?

The Bible says that our prayers will be answered according to our faith. Case in point, last week I was making a very convoluted trip to S. Carolina by bus, then by rental car to Maryland, then by Air to Illinois, then by air to San Antonio. I always pray and have faith in the Lord in this case I put my self and my youngest son in the Lord's hand to be able to make all the connections seamless. After we left San Antonio we were suppose to have a four hour layover in Atlanta, but when we arrived there was a bus that was about to leave to S. Carolina, so we just got off our bus and into the other. When we arrived in Colunbia S.C. they had a brand new thunderbird at a big discount at the car rental. We stayed at a very nice and reasonable Hotel on Main St. Then we went to my Older Sons graduation at FT. Jackson, who would not had made the rigorous training because of his leg slints. Due to Y.A. prayers and I thank you from my heart, he made it. Then we drove him to Maryland to Aberdeen Proving Grounds and bid a sad goodbye. Then my other son and I drove to Maryland, and dropped the car of in the same building that we were catching a flight. The two flights that came in were booked solid and my son started to panic. He then taunted me and said where is your God now. I told him, Don't worry God will take care off us. We then caught a flight to Illinois and as soon as we arrived there was a plane waiting for us, that the tower was not even expecting, which was headed all the way to San Antonio. I then told my son there is my God answering my prayers.

God does exist; and He did answer your prayers yet He would not continually do the super bang that some human beings assume. once you ask for God to coach you He exists, according to probability He did in strategies you probably did no longer assume; possibly the plant existence have been prettier, or the grass grew to become into greener; according to probability human beings have been nicer to you; according to probability you have been secure against wreck or regardless of you tried to do, worked easily, according to probability you grew to become greater financially guard. one element that strikes me - you're saying you prayed for a complete 3 hundred and sixty 5 days & God did no longer ans; yet you do no longer point out any without a doubt undesirable element that surpassed off that 3 hundred and sixty 5 days - according to probability that grew to become into your ans. Mark 9:24 on the instant the boy's father exclaimed, "I do have faith; help me triumph over my unbelief!" I prayed this prayer, like for an prolonged time and now i've got faith totally. do no longer enable the evil one finished you. God is often there, and He solutions prayers He solutions my prayers each and all the time. Do you have a sprint quiet inner voice? Its the Holy Spirit speaking. I thank God usual that my relatives is healthful, chuffed, risk-free, and presented for. He has spoke back my prayers and that i'm getting carry of the solutions to my prayers. regardless of God is precisely the place you left Him and he would be waiting to get carry of you once you swap back to Him through fact he's often suitable next to you waiting so which you would be able to call to him. he's answering your prayers and loving you as He loves all His infants. Matthew 11: 28"Come to me, all you who're weary and under pressure, and that i will supply you relax.

Wishful thinking is not prayer. Many prayers are, in fact, just wishful thinking.

There is no power in prayer.

The power is in the God who ANSWERS the prayers.

Just look at the hindus who have a spinning prayer wheel. These are not getting answered, just because they are being recited.

The Bible says that if we know what God's desires are, and if we ask according to that, then we know that we have the prayers we ask for. But you have to know the will of God, and that can only come through reading the Bible.

Jesus said, "If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed, and then you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."

I think the human mind is much stronger than most folks give it credit for.

When I was in school, took an adv psychology course, mid-way through it, the teacher showed us some video clips of certain experiments being performed on subjects suffering from a certain condition and agreeing to evaluation and treatment for experimental purposes.
There was one clip of two men suffering from the same condition, one was told by the doctors that his condition may worsen and would require extensive treatment, another was told he was going to be just fine.
The man who would "require more treatment" was actually the one being treated appropriately, whilst the man who was "going to be just fine" was only given the basics, water and food, no treatment of any kind (though he believed he was being treated, as this was told to him by the doctors).
Impressively, it was the untreated man who recovered speedily.

How does this apply to your question?
That perhaps it isn't the prayer itself that works, but the human mind, will and "energy".
Good question, starring it. :-)

It's wishing and over-analyzing to find the answer to the wishes.

For example: A guy wishes... oops, prays... for a sign from god that he should do something.... let's say he prays for a sign that he should change jobs.... he prays to god to let him know by any way.... a bird flies past his window.... the wind blows through the trees........"OH THANK YOU GOD FOR YOUR SIGN!"....... That is a case of self delusion.

Then you have the case where the person prays for something that will happen whether they pray or not...... and when it happens they give credit to god. Like the man who prays month after month for that raise at work.... finally after 12 months... his boss approaches him for his annual raise. It's a miracle from god.... I think not!

God teaches us to speak words of faith. Anyway, all prayers are answered it is just that some come in the form of an unanswered prayer. If you have ever experienced a devastating life circumstance like a divorce that you were not willing to accept after years of prayer that seemed to go unanswered. The Lord God presents new opportunitys to you, in the form of a new spouse and a new family. All prayers are answered however they are answered to God's will and to glorify and further the Kingdom of God.

The above analogy was from personal experience.... :)

To tell you the truth i think that God does listen to your prayers but He doesn't give everything you want because honestly most people (including myself) don't know whats good for them. So God does listen, He just doesn't give you what you want cause it might not be what's best for you instead have faith that He will take care of you..

God answers the prayers of all real Christians. He may say "no" or "wait" but He answers them all.

Often times when one prays, he works to accomplish what he asks for and it looks like God has answered the prayer, but He assures us He does not hear a sinner's prayer.

John 9:31 We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but he is ready to hear those who worship him and do his will.

God decides whether or not he should answer your prayer. But, he doesn't answer randomly. He answers the prayers that deserves to be answered. So its not like wishing, which is random.

Think about this for a moment.
IF as the Christians believe, God has already decided on the thing you're praying for,
THEN He has either decided NO, (in which case you can't and won't change his mind,) or He's decided YES in which case you don't need to ask because He's already decided in your favor.

EITHER WAY praying is pointless. I invite reasoned debate on this point.
