Please no silly cracks. I am really interested in your thoughts.

If you could do anything (money is no object) what would you do to help others and pay it forward?

What tugs at your heart strings?

I know that creationists believe that God created all living things. I am curious as to what you make of the dinosaurs. Do you believe that God created dinosaurs? If so, why do you think that God destroyed the dinosaurs, and later created Man? I am an evolutionist, but I am respectful of others' beliefs. I would like to know what your beliefs are concerning this. Thanks!

The populations of poor countries are multiplying rapidly. Shouldn't we do the same so we won't be outnumbered in the years ahead?

I live near a university and right next door to me is an Islamic Student Center. Every so often a man or men go outside on their porch and start signing, cupping their hands over their mouth to increase the volume or their voices, and sing at me. Why?

Definition of Atheism:
"a lack of belief in the existence of God or gods"
You say you can't know. Therefore we can deduce:
1. You can't know if He exists
2. You can't know if He is non-existant
Therefore despite not leaning either way you still fall under the definition of lack of belief in God..

Right?

Our knowledge of the world and progress as humans is attributed exclusively to our ability to use logic and reason. I think this is a very reasonable statement. We depend on our knowledge to improve our lives. A continued improvement of our lives would lead to increased happiness, which should be the highest goal humankind can aspire to achieve. Using logic and reason reveals truths about the world that directly increase our happiness. From mans ability to create and control fire to our modern medical advancements, it is clear to see how these truths improve our lives.

My question then is, why are logic and reason abandoned when they are in direct conflict with relgion? Why is religion the trump card? Why is it a virtue to hold certain beliefs when the reasons are either absent or terrible? Shouldn't we value truth above all else? If you accept that gaining knowledge to reveal truth about the world is directly attributed to happiness, how could you disagree?

Jeremiah 4:23

I beheld the earth, and indeed it was without form, and void; And the heavens they had no light.
I beheld the mountains, and indeed they trembled, and all the hills moved back and forth. I beheld, and indeed there was no man, And all the birds of the heavens had fled. I beheld, and indeed the fruitful land was wilderness, And all its cities were broken down At the presence of the lord by his fierce anger.

Was wondering if someone could explain what exactly it is and what they were trying to say by comparing genesis with this prophesy of invasion of Assyria/ whoever it was that defeated Isreal.

And how did the animal survive while these changes were occurring? For example, did the first animal develop 10% of complete veins, then 20%, and on up to 100%, with veins throughout its entire body and brain? Then how did the heart slowly develop in the animal and get attached to the veins in the right spot? How did the blood enter the system? The blood could not enter before the veins were complete or it would spill out. Where did the blood come from? Did the blood have red corpuscles, white corpuscles, platelets, and plasma? At what point in this process of development did the heart start beating? Did the animal develop a partial stomach, then a complete stomach? After the stomach was formed, how did the digestive juices enter the stomach? Where did the hydrochloric acid as part of the digestive juices come from? What about its kidney and bladder? The animal better not eat anything prior to this. How did the animal survive during these changes? (And over thousands of years?

I swear, these days it's like we HAVE to tip, NO MATTER WHAT.

If we don't tip, then we're HORRIBLE MONSTERS.

We also have to tip EVERYBODY, not just waitresses.

These people do make a wage, you know.

Not only that, but people that work in other professions making a similar wage don't demand 20% for their services.

What is your take on this matter?

According to the principle of evolution (which I whole-heartedly support), a species would not fully acquire a skill unless it was necessary for reproduction and survival, right?

Well if you believe in this and no spiritual realm, how can you explain the skills that the human race has acquired? The skills that are far and above anything needed for survival? Eloquent symphonies, fictional novels, astounding works of art, mind-blowing technology, computer games, entertaining movies, moral law, extreme selflessness, and the never ending need for spiritual satisfaction? NONE of these things have ever had anything to do with the ability to survive . . . and yet they flourish more than ever!

You know that none of this is found in any other species! Your thoughts please . . . I promise I am a VERY opened minded person . . . are you?

1. they don't pay any one to tell them how to go to heaven. Instead they are encouraged to read the bible and pray to God for answers.

2. No paid preacher... did I say that? Sorry but paying a guy to tell you how the read the bible is ridiculous!

3. The purpose of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints is to help you quit sinning. No smoking, no liquor, no sex before marriage. I know of NO other church that follows the bible THAT close.

4. Members can be excommunicated. No other church will throw you out as long as your wallet is open and full.

5. I have been to the church and I have actually read the Book of Mormon. I investigated the church instead of trusting in the preacher that you all pay.

I know this 14-year-old boy and he is mentally challenged (mild). I'm over his house and he pats me on the head like you would to a toddler or a dog and says hi.

His mother wasn't turned towards us and it wasn't until she turned around to notice what he did, and scolded him for patting my head. Should I have told him not to do it before she did or did I do the right thing by letting his mother tell him not to.

I don't really know them well, I only see them a couple times a year at those really big family events and stuff.
