Lack of belief in God.
Here, I'll break down the word for you.
Atheism breaks down into the prefix "a-" and the noun "theism".
a-, in this context, is defined as "lacking, absent, without".
theism is defined as "belief in the existence of a god or gods".
If you break "theism" down even further, you get:
theos, the Greek word for "deity, god".
ism, defined in this context as "belief, system of belief".
Therefore, put it together and you very simply get "without god belief".

So close, but still not quite there, I'm afraid.
An atheist does not have a deficient belief or a negative belief. An atheist is completely free of any belief that there is such thing as a god.

a COMPLETE belief that god or even OTHER gods, DO NOT exist.
sorry bout the caps. just trying to stress words.
keep in mind though since an Atheist does not believe in a higher power, they cannot be a Pagan (I know that's not your question but I felt I had to post it)

Lack of belief in God(s).
That is all, I am an Atheist I am qualified to answer this question.. To the Theists who claim otherwise, buzz off, you have no idea what I do or do not believe.

An Atheist does not believe in the existence of supreme beings in any forms. That goes for all gods.

A: meaning No
theist: meaning God
These are loosely close to the Latin meanings.
Together meaning NO GOD.
Take a class in Latin you might like it.
It will help if you want to be a Dr. or anything else in the Biological sciences. I hope this helps.
