Divorce is rampant in our country even among Christians. I know the Bible says that the two grounds for divorce are adultry and abandonment? But many get divorced because of physical and verbal abuse and substance abuse and neglect in marraige and unfufillment and for also being uncompatiable.
I know some very good people going through this right now.
Can God forgive divorce even though it may not be for the reasons listed in the Bible? What is the best way to encourage and minister to those getting a divorce because it is a painful process.

My childhood best friend became a born again christian just before he got married. He got a good job, he and his wife had a couple of kids bought a big house and they joined the local country club. With their renewed faith, life seemed pretty good. But as the years have worn on his faith became more and more of a priority in his life to where I stopped seeing him socially. Eventually he dropped out of the country club and more recently he quit his job to become a student at a baptist seminary. I could never bring myself to criticize him for his faith, despite my personal feelings about it, because it made him so happy. But this ongoing trend has me scratching my head wondering if this source of hapiness hasn't taken him a step too far.

If they've never heard of Jesus or the Bible, they don't really have a fair shot at getting "saved," and if they're not "saved," they burn in Hell, right?

Is the Christian God a loving God?

teach peace, tolerance and respect??? I know the answer is yes but I'm posting this coz there is a particular person in R&S who is a Christian and she posts nasty offensive comments about certain religions and their followers. Doesn't seem like a very Christian thing to do. I think she needs to go read the Bible and learn some manners from it.

so vile, hateful, and profanity ridden? Surely, Children of Christ should demonstrate a more peaceful approach to debate.

Would Jesus tell me to go f*** myself if I said something with which he disagreed? I think not.

This may be a silly question, but I'm working on a fictional story, and for some reason my mind is all twisted up. I can't seem to remember the word. Is it "aberition", or "abolition" or something that sounds like that. Again, I know, kind of dumb on my part, but I seem to be having what most people would consider a "brain fart". Thank you

I grew up in a Christian church, and have always been taught that you take communion every Sunday, b/c the way we always looked at it, Jesus said whenever 2 or more are gathered in his name, do this (meaning communion) in rememberance of him.

B/c of recent events in life, I have started attending a baptist church and I really do like it. The thing I can't get used to tho, is they almost never do communion, I have heard the pattern is whenever theirs 5 sundays in a month they do it then, but I'm not sure. As a person who has always thought you ALWAYS took communion at a church service, I have had difficulties figureing out how they interpret it differently, and want to kind of see where I REALLY stand on it, not just go with what Ive always done...

so, whats your take on how communion should be done- and if you can give me scripture or anything to back it up so I can have some different view-points on it I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

First of all, is there a ceremony or something? I keep hearing people say you have to accept Jesus as your savior and that makes you saved. Well....wouldn't going to church and practicing the faith and saying "Yes Jesus died for our sins" being accepting of him?
And if there is a ceremony or something....isn't that being just like the Catholics that everyone is always ranting about? Shouldn't it be about the intent, not the ceremony?
I'm really lost on the saving thing. I mean I was saved at one point in my life and thought I "got" it but I constantly see people posting that you have to be born again to be a true Christian.
Oh that leads me to my last question...where in the bible does it state you have to be "born again"?

Should we start with one positive/healing word at a time?

The positive truth to overcome the negative curse?

Should we dare believe for the better & speak it?

If you say yes, are you willing for your child to be exposed to prayers from other faiths? Are you willing for our government sessions to be opened by prayer, from clergy of another faith?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/07/12/prayer.protest.reut/index.html

Should we keep separation of church and state? Or, are you willing for all faiths to be represented?

Shouldn't schools be about learning, government be about managing, and churches be about prayer?

A Christian is someone who has been born again. Who has accepted Christ into their hearts. Who believe He is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, lived his life as a man, was tortured and crucified for our sins, died and rose on the 3rd day and is alive today. People throw the word "Christian" around without really knowing what a Christian is. Just because you are catholic, lutheran, methodist etc. etc. does not instantly make you a Christian. You are not a Christian unless you have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior. Religion is man made rules and regulations and is not Christianity. So next time you say "You Christians" you may be addressing, judging or accusing the wrong people.

Does God love you SO much that he'll send you to Hell for all eternity if you don't love, worship & obey him?

And SIMILARLY (make sure to read this)...

Would you love, say, a boss who threatened to cut off your legs if you score anything less than 100% on your next performance review? Would you love a boss who threatened to literally set you on fire if you don't talk them up to everyone you know? Would you love a boss who claims that you'd be doing all of this to YOURSELF, that really, he only set up the rules and you were the one who failed to follow them?

Would you say that a boss like that loves you?

They say you can't have an abortion or use birth control, that you can't have sex before marriage and that gay marriage is wrong...

BUT it's OK for a priest to molest a little boy? Nobody even went to jail for that they just paid the families off. Nobody even got denounced as a priest for it they just moved them to another church.

WTF is up with that?
