Why is the catholic church so backwards?

They say you can't have an abortion or use birth control, that you can't have sex before marriage and that gay marriage is wrong...

BUT it's OK for a priest to molest a little boy? Nobody even went to jail for that they just paid the families off. Nobody even got denounced as a priest for it they just moved them to another church.

WTF is up with that?

The Catholic Church has NEVER said it's okay for a priest to molest any child, boy or girl. And some priest DID go to jail -- might want to get your facts straight on that one.

Yes, some priests were moved around when the PSYCHOLOGISTS told the bishops to just move the priest out of temptation because back in the 1950s and 1960s, that's what psychiatric medicine thought was best. Everybody knows better now, but the Church -- and psychologists, apparently -- were all fooled back then. It was a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE situation and it is being corrected. And the families of victims SHOULD receive some money because the psychiatric care that victims receive is expensive, and the Church ought to pay for it.

NOTE: There is a website (I haven't looked it up in a while) that lists ALL priests who have been indicted, defrocked, jailed, whatever, over clergy sex abuse.

I tried googling it a few times but couldn't find it. Perhaps you should try looking it up. If you find it, you will see that priests are getting brought to justice for their crimes.

I'm not a Catholic but I am a Christian. I do not believe that it's ok for priests to molest a little boy. Neither do I believe in abortions, birth control, premarital sex and gay marriage. Understand that Catholics aren't the only ones in sin. It just so happens that a lot of them are getting caught. You would be surprised at what goes on in Pentecostal, Baptist, COGIC, Methodist and so forth. Also know that God will be the one that they will have to come face to face with. All sin is wrong and is not pleasing in the sight of God. That goes with all denominations, cults, religions etc.

Nobody said that them molesting a child is ok. I am not Catholic, but I would hope that they reprimanded those men. How do you know that they did not go to jail- those who were guilty? How do you know that they weren't excommunicated? In my church excommunications are not made public, they are done quietly. If someone was convicted of that they would be excommunicated from my church.

As for the first things- I had a teacher who said that Values and morals NEVER go out of date or out of style. Any church who would simply change their values and requirements simply because of what is popular in the world, is not that great of a church in my opinion. I would not like that at all. I don't agree with the Birth control thing, the others I do. But like I said, I am not Catholic, so that really does not matter.

First of all, the Church has NEVER said it was OK to molest children- for priests or for the majority of child molesters- THE CHILD'S OWN FATHER.

Abortion is wrong- end of argument. Anyone who says it is OK is saying that there are situations where it is morally permissible to KILL AN INNOCENT CHILD!!!

Birth control is WRONG because is violates the rights of the spouses and the sanctity of marriage.

ANYONE who has sex outside of marriage is sinning- it's in the Bible...it's called fornicating and sodomy.

And gay marriage is impossible because one of the main purposes of marriage is the procreation of children- GAYS CAN'T HAVE CHILDREN NATURALLY. A hetero couple who is infertile can still get married because there is always the possibility that their marital union can produce a child.
