I'm afraid the "good as you" etymology is just rubbish.

Historically it DID mean happy or merry.

Umm I don't know if u've heard but gay was originally defined as being happy/merry. However I will attest to it being used in "that's so gay", "that guy is gay (weak)", and "he/she is too HOT to be gay."

No. the ingredient that pisses me off is while idiots spell the be conscious "does" as "dose". As in: "Dose it annoy absolutely everyone else while human beings spell the words "one yet another" "eachother?"?" grrrrr

uit does mean good and merry. as well as good as you....It means what ever people choose to use it as. Just cos you think one thing it doesnt mean everybody else thinks the same..or even has to you queer person. Queer meaning odd or out of the usual blah blah blah...i.e

Back in the old days it did mean "happy" or merry. Go read some books in the 70s or 80s or before.
Now it means homosexual or dumb

no, I correct my friends when they use it to mean dumb. But I have bigger fish to fry with the F word, so I don't really care how they use gay.Have a Gay day!

I dont get irritated when its used to mean "happy" cuz that's the original meaning. But when its used as a slang word to describe something bad ("That's gay!), I hate that.
