I always believed in the bible alone. I always believed in once saved always saved. I always believed in salvation through Christ alone and how I have that now and no one can take it away.

The more I read on YA, the more I reasearch the catholic teachings, the more confused I am.

I have concerns about the bible, since it appears that it should be read in light of something else (like church history and teaching) So have I been duped.

How can mortal sin take away salvation if Jesus died to wipe out all sin, altogether. So I live a life and have faith in christ and then I lust after somone (or some other mortal sin) die and I am @#$%$#.

I like the catholic thing of history etc, I see it is richer in debth and spirituality that what I am used to. I even accept, confession, eucherist, even purgatory can make some level of sense (if it is an instantaneous purging)

But the whole salvation thing bugs me, it sort of puts too much in my court.

I don't think it's right to "snatch them while they're young". I think if you absolutly NEED a religion, do some research, there are MANY different religions out there. These people on the movie were some of the most simple, ignorant, and close-minded people I have ever seen.

Jesus is Lord and saviour it will be too late...so what is the point in conversion here people? And does the bible say you get one last chance? The whole point is admitting Jesus is savior and you're telling me it will be too late? You guys condtradict yourselves.

I have spent a few years following these people, ever since the Discovery channel started show casing them...at first I would get so upset I would scream all throughout the show...I called everyone I knew and yelled at them to watch the show too...finally my Mother pointed out that my Great Grandma had 13 children herself and that put it in the rhelm of reality a little for me...so I am used to these people now...but my question...besides the stated one (that they love kids) what is the motivation for these people having endless numbers of children? Because think about it...they get a lot of publicity, endorcements, etc...the husband has run for public office...people do things for this family for free...so any comments?

"Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked:
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out."

A pet peeve of mine has always been people that I don't know making physical contact with me, like tapping you with their hand when they had a question or something. I personally consider it a violation of my personal space, rude and disrespectful.

Yesterday a guy tapped me on the arm when he wanted to know the time, and I just snapped at him. Some of my friends feel the same way I do, where as other friends of mine don't see a issue with it.

What are your guys take on it?

Through violence you may murder a murderer, but you can't murder murder. Through violence you may murder a liar, but you can't establish truth. Through violence you may murder a hater, but you can't murder hate. Darkness cannot put out darkness. Only light can do that.... Difficult and painful as it is, we must walk on in the days ahead with an audacious faith in the future. When our days become dreary with low-hovering clouds of despair, and when our nights become darker than a thousand midnights, let us remember that there is a creative force in this universe, working to pull down the gigantic mountains of evil, a power that is able to make a way out of no way and transform dark yesterdays into bright tomorrows. Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.

So, today I open my email, and Ive got a nice message from an unnamed beleiver... I had responded yesterday to a posting and told the person that they needed to read a dictionary, not the Bible, due to their horrible lack of spelling and grammar skills. Today, I received the following message from another responder (verbatim, grammar and all):

"you dont need to tell other peps they dont need to read the bible they need the holy word and so do you they shall no lie"

So, am I to understand that I am NOT to tell others that they dont need to read the Bible, but its okay for a believer to tell others that they NEED TO read the Bible? Anyone else note the irony in that?!?!

And, is this what a hypocrite is???

Is it down to stagnancy of belief or simple lack of imagination?

Ask any athiest how they would react if they found there was a god, and they can answer quite honestly. When facing christians with an opposite question however they almost always get defensive and simply claim it is not so.

Is it that they have shut down any ability to comprehend an existence outside their fantasy? Is the state of their beliefs so fragile that if they even think for an instant of any other way that the whole thing will crumble? Or is it just that the bible discourages them from questioning anything?

I'm a guy and I'm not really into sports at all. I've poor hand-eye coordination, and I like reading, music, movies and dancing. The problem is, most of my friends who play sports (especially soccer) look down on me for not being athletic. I feel like an outcast since they seem to judge me when they noticed I'm not athletic.

The 2001 United Kingdom Census showed that 72% of the population of 59,000,000 classed themselves as Christian. However, The Church Society's own figures show that in 1968 the usual Sunday church attendance was 1,606,000 falling to 881,000 in 2005
http://www.churchsociety.org/issues_new/church/stats/iss_church_stats_attendance.asp
Office of National Stastics.

15% (8,850,000) claimed no religion.

At present the number of people claiming no religion outnumber churchgoers by 10 to 1

And by extrapolation there will be no church attendees in 40 years time.

What are you thoughts on this?

and say things like " If it wasn't mentioned by the early church writers, it's an obvious invention of a man, no matter how well-meaning he was."

But when an atheist or a person of another religion asks you for proof and parallels your argument by asking for proof from historical records, suddenly it becomes all about "faith"?

If you can't prove YOUR dogma, what makes you think you have the right to criticize and demand proof from any other religious group, even if they do have the same deities? After all, your views don't stand up to scrutiny from the Jewish perspective, or even the Islamic perspective.

Don't you think that it's just a tad hypocritical to criticize Catholics and other denominations?

My department managers decided to buy us lunch today as we have been overworked lately and see this as a good gesture.

When the managers went around to take the orders, a man that sits in the next isle over said he did not want the actual lunch but the monetary amount of what it would cost.

He went on to state "If I ordered a meal you would be paying for it, so giving me the amount of the lunch in money satisfies the same intention."

I don't know what to make of this. He actually does make a logical point & I think the manager is considering giving him the money.

Has anyone ever heard of this before? Is this normal?

Customer Care obviousely never even looks at the violation reports they get. They just trust the reporter, and delete the question/answer. And because of this, many accounts are getting unfairly suspended or deleted. And those of you who think its no big deal to just create another account, well, you have to admit it gets annoying after a while. This nonsense has to stop. You can help in the fight against Customer Care not reading the abuse reports by going to http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/anti_nazi_allies/
I know some of you think that no matter what, Customer Care will never listen, but if we all work together, then we can do anything. So, do not have little faith. Help in the fight today.
