I'm a guy and I'm not really into sports at all. I've poor hand-eye coordination, and I like reading, music, movies and dancing. The problem is, most of my friends who play sports (especially soccer) look down on me for not being athletic. I feel like an outcast since they seem to judge me when they noticed I'm not athletic.

That's okay. Don't worry about them! Some people are interested in certain activities and yours just aren't sports.

The measure of a "true man" (assuming the "true man" is under 25 years old) has always been about how well he does romantically with girls. Sports gets a lot of guys an added advantage in this pursuit but it is not what defines the "true man". Being in a band, or some such thing, can also give you an advantage. There are other guys who are simply cool. These guys don't need anything else. There's some signficant signs of coolness... calmly ask some hot girl out without showing any nervousness... if rejected, don't get rattled. Just shrug and calmly say, "No problem, just thought I'd inquire." And the next time you pass her just smile politely, say hello and keep walking. Pretty soon you'll get a reputation for coolness which leads to success with girls which leads to "true manness".

Many people would say that physical activity defines a "true man" but I would say it is actually confidence. As long as you do not feel that you are less of a man for not being good at sports, they will have a tough time looking down on you. Just don't give in to them.

This is coming from a guy who loves playing sports. I love doing physical things.

being athletic can be achieved through a ton of practice whether you are gifted or not. being in good shape will improve your centre and sense of balance so that you feel more confident doing physical things. you may never be beckham but who is? its just a game for your pals or they wouldnt even want you on their team would they?

To get in good all around condition go cycling and swimming and things will start to come easier . maybe even lift some 10-20 pound dumbells a few dozen times each arm

Plus being in good shape will focus your mind more for all that reading you do. OK most jocks arent that focused on reading but its not their interest like it is yours and the benefit is still there

I know this is tough when you're young, but think of it this way: What is it that YOU want to do with YOUR life? Does it fall outside the realm of sports? If so, (and it seems as if you're more creative than sports oriented) my suggestion to you would be to find a different set of friends. Not ALL guys are into sports. Find the ones that share the same interests as you and befriend them. Good luck to you!
