Because it seems to me like most people on the site that I'm on (BiteFight) are obsessed with talking about blood, revenge, dark angels etc.

I am having second thoughts about staying there. I'm not into vampires that much, I just think that it's a cool site. Do you think people who are into these kind of things have the tendency to do something like hurt someone or... murder?

The place or situation could be anywhere where you are surrounded with people who speaks a totally different language.

You can't just browse the translation book/dictionary from A-Z fast enough to learn every verb you need to communicate with the people, so what few verbs (or action words) you need to learn fast to communicate with them. (They could be French/Chinese/German or Martian people... you know what I mean).

Why is it that when a strong believer in christianity talks to someone of a different religion that they seem to think the other person is wrong. They act like everyone is wrong just because they don't believe in the same thing. I just find it hard to believe that christians think they are so right when they don't even read the bible. If they did then they would know that there are other gods. In the ten commandments, it says thou shalt have no other god before me. It doesnt say they do not exist, it says do not put them before me. And then in Genesis chapter 1 verse 26, "And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." Who is us and our if they are not other gods?

I have tried to get some straight answers about why some of the moral codes in the OT, (such as murdering people for worshipping false idols etc) no longer apply today. The answers seem to me to be morally relativistic. Many people believe it was acceptable to kill people for witchcraft and adultery or to own slaves in Old Testament times but now now. The reasons range from "we are no longer under the law" to a "new covenant" or "Jesus's sacrifice on the cross" made many of those laws null and void.

Isn't that moral relativism ? If owning slaves is wrong, if there are moral absolutes, wouldn't it have ALWAYS been wrong ? If it is wrong to murder people based on their religious views, shouldn't it have ALWAYS been wrong ? Or are morals relative depending on weather or not we are talking about OT times or NT times.

I have seen this kind of material written on bumper stickers on back of cars and trucks.
All kinds of people who come knocking on my door trying to save my soul also seem to agree that no matter what Christans do they will be fully forgiven.
First of all let me say I as a HIndu reverve Christ. In many Hindu homes there are shrine rooms or a little shrine corner depending on the size of the home and of course beliefs. It is not uncommon to see deities from all faiths including pictures of Christ placed there with reverance.
I get told that inspite of this I will end up in Hell to burn for eternity while people who commit henious crimes if they simply ask for forgiveness in the name of Jesus can go scott free!
Lets forget for a start if this is true or not. My immediate concern is , Does not this kind of belief encourage crime and nullify any fear of Sin? I would think this kind of thinking destroyes morality in society as as is clearly evident today,

One thing I cannot understand is some of the religious people who somehow think that merely quoting a passage in the Bible is going to somehow convent non believers.

If someone does not believe the Bible, how is a passage from the Bible going to have any influence?

Anytime I see someone merely copy a passage I am completely uninterested, yet it happens time and time again as though somehow I eventually am going to be beaten down and just accept that because its contineully put in front of me that it must be true.

I am open minded enough to listen to those who are willing to speak from their hearts about their beliefs, but for the lazy few who merely spout passages, gimme a break. Am I alone here???

Citing religious texts results in circular logic.

Example: The Bible says that God is real and God inspired the Bible.
Example II: The Quran says that god is real and god inspired the Quran.

This is circular logic and is therefore flawed.

I am looking for proof of any god.

Please no jargon about how I am an evil atheist, no attacks on evolution or science as I didn't mention evolution or science and please no rambling emotional testimonies about how you felt god as your feelings are not hard proof of anything.

Thank you

Last time I asked this question, I mostly received rambling emotional testimonies. Your emotions and a coincidence are not hard proof of anything. Please, I am looking for hard proof of the existence of a god without reference to religious texts.

It's a sad state of affairs when the most intelligent answer I recieve is "*crickets churping*".

Saying that our existence is enough proof of the existence of god is also not hard proof.

I await your responses.

I am 37 yrs old. I grew up in a the G&L community since I was 5. I am considered 1st generation. I am not going to say it was easy. I had to lie to people about why lived with my mom and my "aunt". I grew up during the onset of AIDS, listening to how it was the gay cancer etc. I think that children of G&L's have it much easier todaythan in the 70-80's. While the G&L community is my culture, I dont fit in to either gay or straight groups. Is there any kind of group or place where there are other people like me? Sometimes I just feel like I dont fit anyplace. I feel like I'm always looking out the window at "the other side" of my life.

If your a closed minded, chaw chewing redneck, bible thumping, holier than though A$$hole keep your thoughts to yourself. Dont wast your time or mine.

If you can give me honest input and understand my situation, plz answer and share your experience or a web site other than PFLAG. I am not PFLAG, I am the adult child of a lesbian couple

I ask this question because I have a book titled "Love's Soft Voice." The theme is of the above nature. I want to know what others think because I'm a people person. I grew up with people from every ethnic origin and I believe that we are all connected. I do not mean for this question to be an ad to sell books. I asked this question a few days ago and I worded it different and I got reported for abuse. I also ask this question because multitudes of people have an American Indian heritage and I want to know how everyone feels especially multi-racial people. Let's face it, there are many stories about American Indian People associating with People of other ethnic origins but I have never read a book or seen a movie about an American Indian man falling in love with a run away slave. I feel that this type of story will be good and I want to know how others feel. Just for the record, this story is a legend that was handed down to me from my Ancestors.
