The fundamentalists chief problem in accepting that saints can hear prayers is that thier notion of heaven and the afterlife are attenuated. For many of them the afterlife is hardly a life at all. They, like many Christians, draw a blank when they try to explain what heaven is like. Some can imagine nothing other than the stereotypic harps and choirs. Others say heaven is an impenetrable haze and that all we can know is that we will be happy there.
One thing that certainly can be said is that those in heaven are alive to God. "Have you never read in the book of Moses how God spoke to him at the burning bush, and said, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' Yet it is of living men, not dead men, that he is the God" (Mark 12:26-27). The saints in heaven are more alive now than we are. I just posted an answer to an atheists question, and on his comments he says he does not believe in sin- because without God sin does not exist. So if this is what atheists believe, do you also believe that you are perfect? Because if you aren't then you sin. If you believe there is sin, what do you do about it?

I don't understand what original sin is, where it is supposed to come from, and why it requires forgiveness through baptism.

Not only do they ask for food, they ask for everything! One has even asked me if he can come over for dinner, on more than one evening! Some of them have asked for snacks and others have asked for toys! What are some parents NOT teaching their children in the way of manners these days!!

Church as the Communion of Saints
By the expression, the "Communion of Saints" we mean in the strict sense the union of all faithful on earth withChrist as their Head an with one another. have never had to go to one before fortunatly. a friend said today about flowers tho, i would rather give money to the hospice he was in, am doing a fundraising event for it as well, but dont want to go with none if thats the normal thing to do? help!
