Again, as the others who have answered before me, no spell or incantation takes little time or energy. You must be willing to take the time to learn what "waitch craft" is and what it can do. Each spell or cast you do will take mental and physical energy from you, because if you do decide to follow the path of "witch craft," then you will learn that because you are the caster, you expel your energy into whatever you are doing.
Now, the reason I have been quoting "witch craft" is because anyone who is serious about it knows that the only witch craft is used by a Wiccan. But, there are many different types of people who use the universe to help or hurt others. You must know that there are people who use "black" magic, and others that use "white" magic. Again, as the others who answered before me said, there is no such thing as black or white magic, because it all depends on what you are doing with the energy.
Now, I can tell you a little bit about Wiccan, which is the "witch craft" you are refering to, but I suggest you look "Wiccan Religion," and "Wicca" up on google or in your local bookstore.
About Wiccan:
Wicca or Wiccan, is a religion. It is the holiest of the "witch craft" in which you speak. If you decided to follow such a path, you must know a few key things. When using Wicca, never use the spells or incantations for yourself. Try to always aid others around you. Because, as the saying goes, "Any spell you use comes back three fold."
To tell a story, someone I knew cast a spell to try and find love, but what ended up happening was that she started having a guy follow her around and stalk her. SCARY! Never use it to mame, hurt, or to get revenge on others. Never use it to aid yourself. Use it to naturally heal someone broken heart, or to give another luck.
Second: When looking Wicca or Wiccan up on google or in books, you will notice they have a writ, which is sort of like their rules. Rules is not a good word to use, but for lack of a better one, that is what I shall use. Being a religion, they have two gods. Yes, meaning it is a Pagan religion. They have the great horned god of the sky, and mother earth or Gaia. This is why everything Wicca stands for is about nature and not aiding yourself or hurting others.
There are a few things that you should learn about before trying to cast, summon, or anything using magic. First, what herbs you would use. Gather those. What the different elemental magiks are and how to conjure them from within yourself. What wards off evil spirits and what brings good ones to your doorstep. What is lucky, what is not. What the pentagram is, the triangle of Solomon is and what it looks like, what the Magik circle looks like and which way of drawing/using it is most effective. What candles and inscence mean what and ward off or summon what. There is a lot you must learn before even attempting a spell. You must also learn the 5 elements: water, fire, earth, and air, along with spirit. Along with where they should be placed on a pentagram. Study it. Find a teacher if at all possible, then make your final choice as to whether you want to follow the Wiccan (witch craft) path or not.
Now, some may try to lead you astray, unless what I'm about to talk about is what you are into.
There are those who follow the devil, lucifer, or as some call him "Satan." They believe Satan is the saviour and that he will redeem all of those that follow. But, I will not say for this either way...even though even talking about it makes my heart heavy and makes me almost to weak to type...
Those that follow him are called Satanists. They believe that if you follow him, he will reward you when he's done with you. This I will share with you. These people use magik to aid themselves and hurt others. This is the worst opposite of the Wiccan religion. And truth be told, following the devil will only lead to your own self destruction. Once he is done with you, he will spit you out and never reward you. Do not follow down this path. As long as your an asset to his favour, he will cradle you like a child...and as soon as he doesn't need you, he will throw you away like yesterday's meal.
Ok, so my point for all of that:
Wicca: uses healing energies and those from nature to help others.
Satanism: uses the same energies to hurt or get revenge on others and aid themselves.
Do not become a satanist...it's bad!
So, that about wraps it up. Look it up, study it, then decide if you want to become a Wiccan witch or if you don't want to spend the time to become a Wiccan witch.

Witchcraft is first and foremost a religion. Tyra's show was not the best way to be introduced to it.
And yes there is work involved. It is something that take time and energy and learning. Which is why many say study for a year and a day. At the end of that time if you find it is for you you can do a dedication either by your self or with a group or teacher if you have found one.
There is no such thing as white Witchcraft and Black Witchcraft. Energy is neutral. It is all in the intention. If you want to do good good is what you will get.
And of course the reverse is true for those who chose not to behave responsibly.
And of course that applies to everyone not just People who practice Witchcraft.
Once you have studied for a while you can do, and will learn, rituals that can aid you in prosperity and healing.
Remember being a Witch is a responsibility and takes discipline. But if it is what resonates with you it is worth it. It is a wonderful Peace and Earth Loving belief system.
Good luck to you on your Spiritual Journey

Please....everyone. White is all colors. Black is the complete absence of color. The color of Magick is the frequencies which are activated by spells, rituals, and objects as well as personal strength of personality.
There are no White or Black Witches there are only Witches that do Magick to help or to hinder.
Learn from a mentor or family tradition then take road rainbow or useless gloom.

All Witchcraft is the same, it just depends on how it is used by the practitioner. Howeverm there are many ways to practice the Craft, so it's impossible to say how it is done because of this very reason.
For what it is worth though, I practive through trance, projection and continuous energy manipulation (none of which I really have to concentrate on to do anymore).

Witchcraft is neither white nor black (those are colors, dear) nor is it good or evil.
Magic is a tool, like any other. The good or evil comes in the use of it.
As to how one would go about becoming a witch..someone else will have to be the one to provide that information as i don't approve of wantonly flinging magical education about.
Word to the wise - ALL magical working require energy, by their very nature.
