Hello, I have always followed the status of the catholic church in the United States. After the Los Angeles Archdiocese recently agreed to a $660 million settlement to victims of sex abuse in the Church, I became much more interested in activism aimed at holding the church accountable for its many abuses, both moral, financial and spirutual in the United States. I am also interested in revealing, in a balanced, fact-based way, the differences between American culture and free thought and the Catholic church and its suppression of dissent. To this end, I was wondering if anyone knows of any established anti-Catholic groups in the New York City area, which are dedicated to revealing not only the Church's deplorable cover-up of sex abuse, but the inconsistencies of many of its spiritual claims with the Bible and its peculiarly non-American culture. I am not a fanatic, but a Ph.D educated man interested in a robust, fact-based and constructive anti-Catholicism. Any resources would be great

what happens when we [as a society] disrespect other people?

i see kids disrespecting other kids. adults disrespecting other adults. but WHY is it bad? what happens to the person disrespecting and what happens to the person disrespected?

you kno that saying: treat others how you'd want to be treated.
what if the person doesn't care how they're treated. HOW WOULD BEING DISRESPECTFUL BE A PROBLEM?

i know the following reasons: they're bad because that's how they were brought up; its bad because you won't get treated the same way. any more?

WELL THANKS AHEAD OF TIME!!!

of Atheists and do not respect their beliefs; yet they expect Atheists to respect Christian beliefs no matter how far out those beliefs are.
Why are Atheists expected to be more polite, more tolerant and more morally perfect than Christians are??
Atheists may in fact be just that, but what right have Christians to expect it?

The most significant problem with trying to justify any belief, philosophy, or religion on faith may be the fact that there is no good reason for only allowing a single religious group to use it. If one person can offer it as a defense of a religious tradition, why can't a 2nd person use it to defend an entirely different and incompatible religious tradition? Why can't a 3rd person use it to defend an incompatible, secular philosophy? They can't all be right, so at best only one is right while the other two are wrong (and it may be that all three are wrong).

Friends of ours are at the hospital while there 24 year old son is battling for his life. He is on dialisis for his kidneys and his liver is not functioning. They are not sure if he was hit by a car or if he was beat up. When they found him at home he was not conscious. He has undergone surgery and it doesn't look good. If anyone feels led by the Holy Spirit to pray for him and his parents that would be great. He is there only son and he is going to be a daddy. Blessings and thanks. Iam not revealing names but The Father knows who you are praying for.

a Hindu brahmin by caste, married to an already married Hindu Dharmendra by converting themselves to muslim. Is Hema, a muslim face of BJP? why VHP/Bajrang Dal activists are silent over this issue? Judiciary whether it EC judge, high court or at the highest level , has always been to the rescue of these upper caste elite with some technical flaw invented. Let's put it straight, Hema Malini is a convert muslim and be treated as such. Position and power should not be seen to be dictating even the judiciary.

First of all, these people don't even want 'creationism' taught in school, they want Christianity taught. And second of all, if you want your kids to learn the bible, take them to a church! Public school is no place to enforce your little indoctrinations on other peoples kids. If you want your kid to believe invisible sky faries exist, get your preist to do it.

Thirdly, for those people who DO want the completely neutral concept of 'creationism' taught, the idea of 'completely nueteral creationism' falls short of a paragraph in length.

"The universe is too complex, it must have been created, the end."

You can't even explain what that means without getting into a specific religion or text.

This whole thing is just some fundamentalist rebellion against evolution, they can't get over the fact that it makes more sense than "god did it", they feel >threatened<, which is why this is even being debated in the first place and You guys are insecure with your beliefs.

H. erectus existed between 1.8 million and 300,000 years ago. Like habilis, the face has protruding jaws with large molars, no chin, thick brow ridges, and a long low skull, with a brain size varying between 750 and 1225 cc. Early erectus specimens average about 900 cc, while late ones have an average of about 1100 cc (Leakey 1994). The skeleton is more robust than those of modern humans, implying greater strength. Body proportions vary; the Turkana Boy is tall and slender (though still extraordinarily strong), like modern humans from the same area, while the few limb bones found of Peking Man indicate a shorter, sturdier build. Study of the Turkana Boy skeleton indicates that erectus may have been more efficient at walking than modern humans, whose skeletons have had to adapt to allow for the birth of larger-brained infants (Willis 1989). Homo habilis and all the australopithecines are found only in Africa, but erectus was wide-ranging, and has been found in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Consider the fact that most people in poorer nations like many African countries for example, don’t have access to modern education. Christians do but they reject what they are taught because it contradicts a silly old book and they even spend time praying, worshipping etc, what amounts to day-dreaming, when they have access to a wealth of knowledge that people in poorer nations don’t.

Science and religion do nothing but compliment each other without contridicting. Why do I experiance this? and. Am I alone?
