The 9th through the 15th centuries was an era during which Europe experienced loss of agricultural productivity, disease, epidemics, and famine. Peasants rebelled against nobility. European powers fought over internal consolidation and trade. New European states formed and competed for commercial dominance, which led to nobility and the Church losing wealth. Europe responded by looking to the "New World" and Africa for new territory, goods, markets, and precious metals. This required manpower, a need which Europeans addressed by enslaving other Europeans and American Indians. Still not having enough manpower, they responded by enslaving Africans. The short answer to the question is: cheap labor and profitability-- perfectly good excuses for people who care more about lining their pockets than anything else.

I'm not sure how they went to enslaving blacks, but some cultures & religions still worship the Black Madonna. I know there was a time when the Roman church tried to hide & change the Black Madonna, but I guess you can't lie about everything & get away with it.

Eventually some other truths they've been hiding will come to light.

The concept of slavery had to be "sold". So saying Africans/Black people were intellectually inferior to the point of being subhuman, soulless (therefore godless), & maybe inherently evil just doesn't mesh well with "the race that gave birth to the son of God".

Are you saying that every person of White European descent is responsible for slavery? The word slave comes from Slav meaning White people of Eastern European descent.
