I was driving along and I saw a "First Church of the Christadelphians" (why are they always the FIRST church?) and it occured to me that as ignorant as I am at what most of you (the greater Christian community) believe, this is something that completely escapes me. So, if there are any on here, or if you know one, who are you (they) and what do you (they) believe?

According to Scripture, how should be pray? I have heard many different perspectives on this. Some say that the prayer that Jesus taught Matthew 6:9-13 is a model for prayer. Will the Lord not answer prayers if they are not done correctly? I understand that first we are to enter his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise (Psalm 100:4). Does this apply to how we should begin our prayers? Or is there no correct way except that we believe the prayer will be answered?

According to a recent post for the linked question below, Christians who are not Catholic are "missing a piece" of the puzzle

Please understand, I am NOT in any way critisizing the Catholic church, I'm simply trying to understand Catholic docterine.

Thank you

I hear non-believers always use the phrase "God d--- it!" If they don't believe in Him, then why are they always asking Him to d--n it.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate for them to say "World d--n it" or "I d--n it"?

We have this new boss where i work and he's only 24. The past boss would make small talk and say hi. This guy says nothing. I'll be standing right next to him in the same isle of the store and NOTHING. He only talked to my supervisor to say ask what she was doing....because she wasn't somewhere else in the store.(she was going to be closing manager that day). And also said to her that she couldn't punch in because he changed what time she was suppose to come in but didn't tell her. He's really stuck up. And won't tell us things until last minute. Right now we're seeing how long he's going to stay here like the last one(she stayed like 2-3 weeks). And she said hi.

He went on to say that you can't have salvation without being Catholic. This really rubbed me the wrong way. I had this flash back memory about Hitler, Stalin and all the previous people in history that want world domination and now we have this religious figure that tells those of us who aren't Catholic that we are doomed to hell if we don't convert. If I recall, didn't Pope John Paul II apologize and ask for forgivness for the Inquisition which tried to accomplish the same thing except through violence?

God guard you and us against the trickeries of the oppressors, the tyranny of the envious, and the violence of the despots.O people, do not be misled by the tyrannical rulers and their fellows who are desiring only for the pleasures of this world, tending to it, deceive by its attractions, approaching it as well as its destruction and smashes which will certainly terminate and be ruined in the morrow.

Know that you will only emerge from the darkness of delusion and desire, and to recognize the faults in your self which are not consistent with your intellect and knowledge.

This world is like a body whose head is pride, whose eyes are avarice, whose ears are greed, whose tongue is dissimulation, whose hand is desire, whose legs are vanity, whose heart is heedlessness, whose being is annihilation, and whose product is extinction.

All that which is in this world is evidence on its lowliness. Its ornamentation, changeability of manners, variableness of conditions, lessons, playing with people-all these are proofs on its lowliness.

It surely exalts the mean and demeans the noble. It will drive some people into Hell. This is an efficient lesson, trial, and warning for the heedful.

In the Bible, for example, I don't recall there being references to black holes, supernovae, galaxies, other phenomena which we've been able to study, directly or indirectly, from our vantage point on earth.

If a god is describing the origins of earth and human beings, why would it not also describe the phenomena which we, using our ability to reason and build tools to observe, are increasingly able to investigate?

If scripture is supposed to be all-encompassing, why has it not encompassed and provided an explanation for stellar phenomena?

Is that why there will be no sex in heaven because it is a constant state anyway?

My initial question sucked - it was badly worded and the thought was incomplete.

Just wondering about how christianity will respond. Given this day and age and how biology seems to be changing it is possible, if not already, that some people are just simply born homosexual.

The standard answer would be that they cannot act on their feelings.

My question to that is would that be the same as asking a hetero person to suppress their feelings for the opposite sex?

How about a person born with both female and male organs? Do they get free picks?

I've been pondering the question myself trying to come to answer on it. I think I'll get there but I am curious about other people's responses.

I am trying to understand the shift in Catholic docterine with regard to "one true church".

John Paul understood this term. Do you agree with him? Do you miss Pope John Paul?
