What were people doing that was so rotten?

Was god just upset because people weren't worshipping him?

Isn't it a bit over the top to say Noah was the only nice guy left?

Surely there were a few others around worth saving.

Is the story really teaching people anything other than god being nasty & vindictive?

for example, your child raped and murdered, your family tortured, you become completely paralyzed, all your material assets destroyed, your dog gets run over, you get an incurable disease without reason, terrorists bomb a huge number of innocent people that you knew.. etc etc...

you get the idea..

Why would you still believe in God, or Why would you discontinue to believe.

A few hours ago, I posted the following question:

"According to Pascal's wager, shouldn't we all believe in the god who is best at torturing nonbelievers?"

The question was removed - nothing more than the nonspecific and impossible to respond to "violated community guidelines".

I can't see how the question violated community guidelines, but I know that all emails I send to customer care go unanswered.

So... should I just ignore it? Post the question again? Give up in disgust and stop wasting my time here?

(For bonus points, you can answer my original question, too)

Such reports persist and proliferate because they sell. And they sell, I think, because there are so many of us who want so badly to be jolted out of our humdrum lives, to rekindle that sense of wonder we remember from childhood, and also, for a few of the stories, to be able, really and truly, to believe--in Someone older, smarter, and wiser who is looking out for us. Faith is clearly not enough for many people. They crave hard evidence, scientific proof. They long for the scientific seal of approval, but are unwilling to put up with the rigorous standards of evidence that impart credibility to that seal. [Carl Sagan]

In light of Christs words "Be not of the world?" Do they feel like hypocrites? How can they celebrate an earthly kingdom when they should have their eyes on heavenly things?

This wouldn't be a play on non-Christians being asked about Christmas, would it?
