Can some one just tell me some of the Mormon beliefs. I dont want long paragraphs or websites to look at. I just want to know the basic stuff.

Also, how are they different from Christians? I know SOME say they are Christians but are they?

And what is the "death pact"?

Please be simple and brief, I just want some straight answers...

Thank You?

They seem to need to revise their beliefs on theology on a regular basis, with "New Light". Shouldnt they call it "The possable Truth" or "The might be Truth Some day If ew can get it right" ?

Once again, it's time to clear up the misconceptions about Einstein. I just saw several of his quotes being misused.

As much as god-believers would like to claim him as their own, Einstein was not a religious man. He often used words like "god" and "religion" metaphorically.

In Einstein's OWN WORDS, "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

Some people say he was a pantheist, and I think that fits with what I've read of him. Pantheism is the belief that the entire universe is god.

I did a survey, and found that 21 out of 29 polled are Christians. However, there seems to be an unusually large amount of Christian bashing on Yahoo answers, with little or no defense of the faith.

In my survey at least, (with yes or no answers) those who answered that they were Christians recieved an automatic "thumbs down" vote by the level 2 guys.

Am I just paranoid, and if not: why, If there are so many of us, is nobody speaking up?

Why do you guys think people get offended so easily in this section? Why do people resort to name-calling or offending others instead of respectfully stating their disagreements?

To me, it's just like a little kid throwing a hissy fit at Wal-Mart. When someone starts getting so riled up to the point where they feel it necessary to use bad language and personally attack other people...as far as I am concerned, that is when they have "lost" the argument, and it isn't worth it anymore.

I have my own thoughts as to why people overreact, but I wanted to hear some from you guys as well. Can we not discuss beliefs in a civil manner anymore?

Anyways, even if you don't answer, I hope you have a nice night and a great holiday tomorrow. Isn't it great to live in a country like America where we have the freedom to believe what we want, among many other wonderful freedoms?

Hi all, and good evening,

I recently got a call from one of my ex-girlfriends who was invited to a commitment ceremony. The roommate of my ex-girlfriend, who is a proud lesbian, is having a ceremony and my ex is being involved in the wedding party. I have some friends who are openly gay and lesbian, so I definitely support them. However, my ex is wearing a black tuxedo-jacket, pants, shirt, tie, cummerbund, and shoes. I was just curious to know why some women prefer to wear tuxes for these events, and if she is wearing one, should I wear one also?

Apparently there is a new drug in the works that can minimize the trauma and memory associated with a bad event. Do you think that if this is used in a widespread manner, people will become more nonchalant about terrible things? Afterall, if you can take a pill and the bad memories disappear will the world somehow become an easier place to live?

many many more deaths and sufferings are caused by Atheists?

Think about it: The Nazi's, The Soviet Union, China, and Cuba. Each country was/is a Totalitarian State run by Atheists. The Nazi's killed 6 million Jews, 3 Million Poles, and a lot of other groups, not to mention the death toll because of war. The Soviet Union oppressed it's own people, and those outside of their own country (ex. Poland). China continues forced abortions for women who already have one child. Cuba, a communist state run by an Atheist man. His people are hungry and dying. He also kills anyone who opposes him.

There are two things that each country has in common with all the others.

1. Atheist Rulers.

2. Oppression of their own people, and the taking away of the freedom of ANY religion.

Many atheists point to the crusades. The crusades from the Christian standpoint were about protecting Jewish and Christian lands from the Muslims.

I was going to do the Mormon thing but can't deal with all of the prejudice against them. It's mental suicide and they don't deserve that. The media always likes to show the negative aspects about Mormonism (ie. polygamy, cult aspects, racism, etc.). They never mention that some Mormons don't believe in those things. I really feel sorry for the Mormons especially the LDS Mormons because they have nobody to defend them.

I don't know whether to look at them, which may be rude, or looking straight ahead, which would be ignoring them, which would also be rude. I usually try to act like I'm preoccupied with something petty on the side, but that's probably not the best thing either. Some advice would be appreciated.

Matthew 12:31-32
31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

I am sixteen, and I have noticed that some users blantly disregard another user's question pending on the subject, by making a satirizing comment about the person's age. I find this highly vulgar and a sign of arrogance that some people believe that maturity is based on your age, which I undoubtedly disagree with.

I am a Christian, who is currently struggling with my faith, for many different reasons. For one, I keep hearing different claims that Jesus never existed, and many others, that seem to contain some truth. My main issue is this...I was a raised a Pentecostal, and I noticed that everything concerning Christianity is about rules, and what everyone is doing wrong. There seems to be so much criticism, and judgment in the church. Why are we as so-called Christians so judgemental of others? Another thing is, if we are supposed to be awaiting the arrival of our Lord and Saviour, then why are so many preachers and teachers, such as Joyce Meyer ( whom I actually really love), Creflo Dollar, and etc. always so overly concerned about prosperity teaching, and living in mansions and having designer clothes, and private jets? Is that what Christianity is about? I thought it was about love and acceptance, and forgiveness, etc. I'm starting to understand why Christianity is under attack. Perspectives?
