Jehovah's Witnesses do not do as this questioner supposes.
It is TRUE CHRISTIANITY (such as is practiced by Jehovah's Witnesses) which is understood to be "the Truth" and "the Way" referred to in the Scriptures themselves.
(John 8:31-32) Jesus went on to say...: “If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
(1 Timothy 3:15) God’s household, which is the congregation of the living God, a pillar and support of the truth.
(Acts 9:1-2) the disciples of the Lord...who belonged to The Way, both men and women.
(John 14:6) Jesus said...: “I am the way and the truth
Incidentally, what does the bible say about those who actually 'work what is injurious' and suppress "the truth"?
(Romans 1:18,24) For God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way... God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them, even those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie
(Romans 2:8-9) For those who are contentious and who disobey the truth but obey unrighteousness there will be wrath and anger, tribulation and distress, upon the soul of every man who works what is injurious
(2 Timothy 3:8) These also go on resisting the truth, men completely corrupted in mind, disapproved as regards the faith
It is perhaps anti-Witnesses who should renew their study of "the truth", recognizing that their months or years or decades of persecuting Jehovah's Witnesses have been unsuccessful. Their knowledge and willingness to work can perhaps be redirected to serve a godly purpose...
(Isaiah 54:17) Any weapon whatever that will be formed against you will have no success
(2 Corinthians 13:8) For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth
Readers might ask Which of the mindsets mentioned by James seems to describe the critics and which describes the defenders of Jehovah's Witnesses?
(James 3:14-17) If you have bitter jealousy and contentiousness in you hearts, do not be bragging and lying against the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is the earthly, animal, demonic. For where jealousy and contentiousness are, there disorder and every vile thing are. But the wisdom from above is first of all chaste, then peaceable, reasonable
(1 John 2:21) No lie originates with the truth

I've never heard the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society refered to as "The Truth."
"New Light" is also a misunderstanding on your part, it's not "New Light" at all; It's simply a better understanding of the princpals involved.
Pro 4:18
(ASV) But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
(BBE) But the way of the upright is like the light of early morning, getting brighter and brighter till the full day.
(KJV+) But the path734 of the just6662 is as the shining5051 light,216 that shineth215 more and more1980 unto5704 the perfect3559 day.3117
(KJVA) But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
(LITV) But the path of the just is as a bright light going on and shining till the day is established.
(YLT) And the path of the righteous is as a shining light, Going and brightening till the day is established,
I think you are making this up. Why are you trying to mislead others as to what Jehovah's Witnesses beleive?

We never have called the WTBTS the Truth. We call it a printing company.
We call the religion that we have and the faith that JWs share, the truth, because it is. That is because it is founded on Jesus and Jesus is the truth.
And there is no such thing as new light, it is increased light or understanding.
And that is not a bad thing.

Dear Dyslexic Princess,
We do not call the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society the Truth. Jesus Christ was "The Way, The Truth and The Life",(John 14:6) We endeavor to be footstep followers of Jesus, to live our Life in THE WAY that Jesus set for us, continuing the work that he started. (Matt.28:19-20) Abiding by the Greatest commandments(Matt 22: 37-40) , hoping that we reflect just a little of THE LIGHT and that my dear is THE TRUTH.

Sound like a broken record player.
Since you don't like change you can join any other religious group and practice the same customs and prayers over and over and over again, as much as your heart is content.
JWs were once called bible students for a good reason, once they learn something new they explored its possibility's and see if can be interpret in their day to day lives.
Buy If you like to hear and do the same thing every single day then more power to ya.

The correct answer is supposed to be because they are the only channel of communication with God today.
Yet in the same breath they will tell you they do not claim divine inspiration or infallibility.
Can you be a channel of communication with God without divine inspiration and infallibility??? NO WAY.
The truth is a constant and not a variable.
____
Achtung... you are not telling the truth about "the truth". Puh-lease I listen to my inlaws gossip about so and so left "the truth"...blah blah.... so and so has found "the truth"... blah blah .... yes, you call it "the truth"...
Sklemetti has the publishing company part right. Except he forgets to mention that the Governing Body at the publishing company passes down the rules through the hierchy to the elders at each local Kingdom Hall....
Maybe you guys should tell the whole truth.

Their Beliefs
Their beliefs—not mixed with traditions, pagan ideas, or nationalistic ideals—are based entirely on the Bible, which they believe to be the unerring, inspired Word of God. This makes for some significant differences in basic beliefs.
Use of the divine name: The name JEHOVAH, Yahweh to some, may sound strange to many people, yet the use of it more than 7,000 times in the Bible argues that God’s worshipers are expected both to know and to use his personal name. (Psalm 83:18) Since Christians are “a people for his name,” Jesus used it in teaching his disciples. (Acts 15:14; John 17:26) In view of this, rather than thinking Jehovah’s Witnesses strange for using the name, would it not be more appropriate to ask why other religions do not consistently use it?—Malachi 3:16.
God’s Kingdom: A real government—though heavenly—with Christ Jesus as king, with dominion over the earth. It is not just ‘something in the heart.’ “The government will be upon his [Christ’s] shoulder.” (Isaiah 9:6, 7, Revised Standard Version) It will vindicate the rightful sovereignty of God. He “will set up a kingdom that will . . . put an end to all these [human] kingdoms,” restoring unity and world peace forever.—Daniel 2:44.
The human soul: Not something immaterial and immortal that somehow survives the death of the body but, rather, the person himself or the life he enjoys. When created “the man came to be a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7; 1 Corinthians 15:45) “Immortality of the soul is a Greek notion formed in ancient mystery cults and elaborated by the philosopher Plato.” (Presbyterian Life, May 1, 1970) So the dead are not really suffering anywhere. They are asleep. (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10) The hope for a future life for the dead hinges on the role of Christ Jesus as a ransom sacrifice and depends on having the favor of God for a resurrection.—John 5:28, 29; Acts 17:31; 24:15; 1 Corinthians 15:13, 14.
The earth’s future: Earth will not become a lifeless cinder, either by God’s hand or by a nuclear holocaust. God “did not create it simply for nothing.” He “formed it even to be inhabited.” (Isaiah 45:18; Ecclesiastes 1:4) God’s Kingdom will see to it that his will shall “take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.” (Matthew 6:10) Then, “the righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.”—Psalm 37:29.
Those who embrace such beliefs experience a change of attitude toward God, life, and fellowman. Life has purpose and meaning.—Romans 8:19-21.
Their Practices
These are also based on the Bible. Even though some of them may be viewed as odd, these very practices constitute significant identifying marks of true worship.
Public ministry: Many bring this up as a major difference in activity and organization. Yet, in this work Jehovah’s Witnesses obey Jesus’ command to “go . . . and make disciples.” Imitating the apostolic example, all who qualify as ministers can teach “publicly and from house to house.” (Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 20:20) Some churches have the traditional clergy-laity division, but “there is not the slightest justification . . . for that ‘split-level’ distinction,” says Theology Today. Rather, as the Encyclopedia Canadiana observes: “The work of Jehovah’s Witnesses is the revival and re-establishment of the primitive Christianity practised by Jesus and his disciples during the first and second centuries. . . . All are brothers.”
Christian neutrality: Though little understood on this matter, Jehovah’s Witnesses remain neutral as to politics and to all forms of conflict that require one to hate one’s fellowman. (John 18:36; Isaiah 2:2-4) About early Christians, historian Edward Gibbon says: “They refused to take any active part in the civil administration or the military defence of the empire.” So, what at first might appear to be radical is really the peaceful role of those who must be “no part of the world.”—John 17:16.
Racism: “Racial discrimination—still an issue in some churches—is not a problem for Witnesses,” said a newspaper in the southern United States. A genuine love for their Christian brothers unites them in a worldwide brotherhood. Though imperfect like anyone else, they strive to apply among themselves the teaching of Jesus: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.”—John 13:35.
Get to Know Them Better
Of course, not all the things that make Jehovah’s Witnesses beneficially different have been discussed here. So why not get to know these Christians better? Your prospects for a happy present and future life are bound up in accurately identifying the religion that must be different if it is to meet God’s standards.—Matthew 7:21.Now does it look like our believe are wrong we use the bible for every thing use your look up the cited scritures. talk to one befor you knock it

1.) They like to set themselves up as the ONLY way to salvation, stressing that while other churches twist the scripture, they claim to tell 'the truth"
2.) Its a dramatic statement gaurunteed to get attention.
3.) I've also heard that the term "the truth" is loosely based on the scripture where Pilate says "What is truth?"
Its a sales gimmick.
