many many more deaths and sufferings are caused by Atheists?
Think about it: The Nazi's, The Soviet Union, China, and Cuba. Each country was/is a Totalitarian State run by Atheists. The Nazi's killed 6 million Jews, 3 Million Poles, and a lot of other groups, not to mention the death toll because of war. The Soviet Union oppressed it's own people, and those outside of their own country (ex. Poland). China continues forced abortions for women who already have one child. Cuba, a communist state run by an Atheist man. His people are hungry and dying. He also kills anyone who opposes him.
There are two things that each country has in common with all the others.
1. Atheist Rulers.
2. Oppression of their own people, and the taking away of the freedom of ANY religion.
Many atheists point to the crusades. The crusades from the Christian standpoint were about protecting Jewish and Christian lands from the Muslims.

Also, I respect Muslims. I see Islam as a naturally peaceful religion. It's wacko extremists who think the Qaran is telling them to kill the infidels. So don't lump all religious together because of a few people.

I have studied up on it, and the Nazis were not Christian, sorry guys, you lost credibility with me there. Hitler believed there were a race of super men living in the center of the earth, and when he died he was going to go live with them...he was an oddball.
As to the "thing" about medical research. What they're not telling you is that 1. ADULT stem cell research has come up with cures, while embryonic stem cells have a whopping total of 0. 2. There are other ways of getting those same stem cells without creating babies and killing them. You can get then through the left over fluid, placenta, and (embilical?) cord.

Your a ******* moron. The question really isn't if religion or atheist have killed more people but in what name have they killed. There are bad people in every belief system and the last time I checked no one was killed in the name of atheism. Can't say the same for religion. And since you didn't point out a single religion I'm willing to bet that since the dawn of civilization more people have been killed over religion than they have by atheist. Remember I'm talking about ALL religions. I really hate this argument because there is just no way of calculating how many people were burned/drowned/stoned/tortured in the past 4,000 years for not believing in whatever religion was popular at the time. And hate to burst your bubble but Hitler was a christian. Although he didn't kill in the name of christianity. Just like Stalin, Mao, and Castro don't kill in the name of atheism. All of those guys are/were egocentric jerks who are/were probably mentally ill also. I hope this is the last time this issue has to be addressed because in the end it'd not the belief system that kills people, it's people who kill people.

The survival of the fittest is where Hitler got his ideas of the master race - He got that from Lamarkian evolution which supports the absurd concept of his master race and why he had ALL of Darwins books burned. therefore atheism is at fault for the Holocaust - There fore you are an idiot who has no idea what he is talking about. He supported and was supported by the catholic church and thought he was doing god's work which is why the church supported him since they thought he was doing what popes for centuries had tried to do - kill anyone who did not say their prayers in Latin. Also Communism is an atheistic ideology - Communism is a political ideology, nothing more. Proving your idiocy again. Stalin and Mao were atheists - Stalin studied for the priesthood, ran his administration as a religion and thought himself a deity, so did Mao. Stalin had churches though out Russia, just his churches. since atheism is so bad that means it musn't be true and therefore we should believe in God because these bad things make atheism not true - And that is brilliant beyond belief.

Study more. I read a 665 (666 minus 1 ...) page compilation of Hitler's private conversation, as scribbled down by Martin Bormann. In it he said that atheism is something he wanted his society to avoid.
He was also the product of a Catholic culture in Bavaria and Austria, and he was followed by a Christian nation, half Lutheran (Martin Luther wrote, "On the Jews and their Lies", which prefigured the Final Solution). German soldiers wore belt buckles that read, "Gott Mit Uns". I won't bother to translate, you can tell what it says.
You cannot pin this on atheism.
As for the Soviet Union, all the people killed were not killed on behalf of atheism, but power. Millions died in the Ukraine from forced collectivization of agriculture. It led to famine. This had nothing to do with atheism.

The Inquisition had innumerable victims, many of whom were Christians who didn't quite meet the Vatican's level of devotion; Vlad the Impaler killed over 100,000 Transylvanians for refusing to convert; Olaf killed over 200,000 Norse who refused to convert; the crusades were a blatant, genocidal attack on Islam; Hitler professed to be a Christian; there are Monastery lands filled with the bodies of babies aborted from and killed after birth from pregnant nuns and girls impregnated by priests; the "Christian" Spaniards butchered, and nearly exterminated South American Amerindians; "Christians" did all they could to evict, enslave, denigrate, extirpate and discriminate against Native North Americans and continue to do so today, even when they made the ultimate sacrifice for this nation; Christians today continue to try to legislate, impose and justify their domination of a nation and society established as a bastion against the imposition of a state religion.
Got more. You got the guts and and the humility?

i dont know.. You cant really blame atheists. There is always going to be those bad eggs, and not all atheists feel the same was as those rulers.
and i just think religion in general causes death. There are so many wars going on becuase of religion. I think everyone needs to stop fighting, and realize what the main point of religion is. were not suppose to be fighting with eachother. everyone should have their own beliefs, and just leave other people alone and stop fighting.

Have you spoken to the previous heads of the soviet union, china, or Fidel Castro?
Have you read their biographies?
No?
So what are you basing this claim on?
Btw, Hitler was a catholic, the Nazis were very devout catholics, and he was endorsed by the Pope in the 30's.

...And on top of what everyone else has said, let's not forget the Spanish Inquisition, all the 'heretics' killed in the name of God (Hugenots, anyone?), and oh yeah, Native Americans killed because they were- you guessed it- heretics. Had to justify Manifest Destiny somehow.

* The nazis were christians
* It wasn't atheism that caused deaths - nobody ever killed because no-god told him to do it.
* By comparison, the bible asks that you murder family members who ask you to worship a different god.
* Each year, more americans are killed by christian opposition to medical research than by terrorists.

Not again.
Look... wars are not fought to forward Atheism. Wars are not fought with claims of "we do it for Atheism". But wars ARE fought to further religion and with claims of "we do it for god".
Think before you type.
