Gordon B. Hinckley lives in a million dollar penthouse condo. He has a private chaufer, riding in a lexus. He has 24 hr bodyguards. His travel expenses are paid for.
Although this may not be getting paid directly, what else do you need after being compensated with all these things?
It's not like he needs the compensation. He already has income from his business ventures.

Many apologetic arguments rely on our sense of morality coming from Joe Hovah (CS Lewis). So my question to the Christians is: what/whose moral code does God follow?

Can we come up with a list of things which God will or will not do?

(And because I know there are a lot of wannabe prophets out there, unless Jehovah talks to you so forcefully that you've written your own bible, let's just stick to the bible that we do have, k?)

This quote from "Confessions" reminds me of the first time I ate shrooms or dropped acid:

"And while we spoke of the eternal wisdom, longing for it and straining for it with all the strength of our hearts, for one fleeting instant we reached out and touched it. Then with a sigh, leaving our spiritual harvest bound to it, we returned to the sound of our own speech, in which each word has a beginning and an ending..."

i am a firm believer in that there is an Almighty being, i was raised to call him our Lord and his son our Jesus Christ, but what i want to know is there anyone out there like me who is more spiritual. i mean for me to sit here and say that the religion i choose is right, would be hipacritical of me i was raised as a christian, but i dont think its right to scare people into a religion, for ex: " if u dont go to church ur going to hell" "if u have sex before marriage ur going to hell" there are a lot of things i really dont agree with in some religions but yet there are so many similarities in other religions. all i can say is that my faith runs strong and god is in my heart, so why do ppl try to dout my faith just because i dont do every thing they do. whats ur insight in this subject how do u feel.

Obviously, many of you have probably had an abortion, how did you justify this 'murder'?
Many of you will probably believe that the 'fetus' is not human. But clearly after a few months old is has finger and stuff and later on develops a brain. Isn't that like saying a mentally retarded person isn't really a person because he/she is not fully functional?
Many women don't want it because it wrecks their figures, you could have abstained from s e x ( preferably) or at the very least used a condom. Just because your shallow that doesn't give u the right to kill.

And then theres the little thing called adoption. In the western world there are queques of people lining up to adopt. So no excuses there, even if it's a product of rape you can atleast adopt it out. As for the incest argument, it takes a few generations of inbreeding to mess up the gene pool to causes any bith defects, or so I've heard.

So, how did you justify it? How can you prove that it isn't murder. thanks.

think it annoying that we answer with quotes from the Bible or something about Jesus. It's really confusing because they want our point of view, but don't want any info backing it up, making it useful.

I know it isn't all of you, but in general....

my dear friend, & underpaid ILLEGAL immigrant worker, jesus (pronounced HEY-ZEUS) sanchez was stabbed in the back, literally. but don't worry, after 17 stitches, he's alright. sore, but alright. so before the cops find out that he's not here legitimately & kick him out the country (don't worry, he'll be back, he always is), they want to find out "who done it".

Why do atheists like picking on Christians for believing what they do from the Bible without actually witnessing it, when 90% of them do the same with science textbooks and websites? Just because your beliefs are published two years ago instead of two millenia, does that make them more valid?
Is it because we can see the scientist on the news? How many of you actually go to a laboratory, collect samples, study them, observe them, and publish your results? What stops me from creating a website that says I have discovered the cure for cancer on Mars? What makes a textbook more reliable than the Bible? You take the textbook on faith like we take the Bible.

A friend of mine told me he as a child was horrorfied when his atheist parents told him that his beloved grandmother was" as extinct as a squished ant"and had no hope for his varied physical disabilities until he came to believe in a good and just God and in everlasting life and justice through a crucified and Living Savior. Do you have similar stories? What do you think? Should atheist parents"indoctrinate" their children with No- Life -After-Death?

It's generally pretty difficult to upset me, but something about that show pisses me off to no end. Gender roles irritate me quite a bit to begin with, and Betty, Wilma, Fred, and Barney... especially Fred and Wilma... are pretty much the epitomy of foolishness and stupidity as far as I'm concerned, a manifestion of all that is wrong with American culture, especially in past decades.

UGH!!!!!

My friend and her family have had such sickness in the last few months. She has a 2 and 3 year old and her husband was just relaesed from the hospital two days ago after surgery, She is now sick and may have to have surgery if the new medicaton they gave her does not work. She doesn't have time to be sick so please say a prayer for Shannon, Stephanie, Math and Ebb. Please give me a star or a short answer to let me know that they are in your prayers. I truely believe that this is the only way that her family can find wellness. Thank you so much!!!!!

I always make a point to analyze both sides of an argument before taking a side, even if one side of the argument is destruction of the West. Did we do something or is this just more bloodshed in the name of religion?

Are you telling me, that because of parchments two thousand years old, written by other ordinary human beings, that you can state 'for sure' that there is only 'one' god/creator of the whole universe/s? That you can state that god/creator is a male? Also, how come that 'one' god/creator favours your country/peoples above all else, that you are some kind of 'chosen' people, above all others? Has a name that 'you' have given him!? ............ Its 'so' obvious that 'religion' has evolved from various peoples, over thousands of years, can religious people not see this? ... Just one more question! .... When moses stood on the mountain, with the commandments carved onto the tablet/s of stone! ... Which language was it written in? .. Because hebrew language had not been invented then!! .... Surely, coming out of Egypt, after being there 'four hundred years', it would have been carved in 'egyptian hieroglyphs'??

Reworded (to retain the logic):

Could a parent, out of love, stoop down to the level of his/her child and remain a parent?

OR:

Could/Should a human drop to the level of his pet dog/cat/fish (just for the sake of love) and hope to remain human and in control, or would the other fish start to nibble away at his fins, given the chance?

OR

Could the Orkin man (supposing he is really, truly empathetic) drop down to the level of a cockroach, in order to save it, and still carry the title of "pest control expert" -- or would he become the pest?

ERGO:

Does God need to drop down to our level to prove to us that HE loves us?

The Catholic Church does not teach this .

Check out theCatechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 970 which quotes Vat II Lumen Gentium which emphazises that Christ is the One Mediator and that our and Mary's role as intercessors and channels of grace to others is completely dependent on Christ's being the One Mediator.
Mary is called Mediatrix (but not of all graces) in LG 60 and CCC969 but this means just any woman( but of greater proximity to Jesus) in the Body of Christ who is an intercessor-in-the-oneIntercessor or mediators-in-the -one mediator. and one who helps bring folk to Christ.

Anyone who prays for another person is a mediator-in-the one -Mediator.
I've looked all over for any Catholic use of Pastor Art's term "Mary as Co-Mediator" and I've found no use of it. We all as believers who live in grace and who pray for ourselves and others are all mediators in, with,by for and to Jesus

Good Pastor Art misses this fact.,IMHO.

God bless and thank you.
