Time will change you, but you can't change time.
Seriously though, you do touch on one of religion's alluring qualities. People gravitate toward the safe comfort of stability and the familiar. Change is scary, dangerous, confusing. Religion is the unalterable "Truth" and this can be very comforting for some. The fact it hasn't changed and been updated since time began proves to many its enduring and lasting nature.
"Inspect every piece of pseudoscience and you will find a security blanket, a thumb to suck, a skirt to hold. What have we to offer in exchange? Uncertainty! Insecurity!"
— Isaac Asimov
"I kept walking and walking, and I kept thinking about old Phoebe going to that museum on Saturdays the way I used to. I thought how she'd see the same stuff I used to see, and how she'd be different every time she saw it. It didn't exactly depress me to think about it but it didn't make me feel gay as hell either. Certain things they should stay the way they are. You should be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. I know that's impossible, but it's too bad anyway."
— J.D. Salinger (The Catcher in the Rye, p. 122)
Things do not change; we change.
— Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.
— Nelson Mandela

It depends on what you want to be sure about, but wether its relationships, money, family, or work situations, you can never really be sure about what happens, but you can plan things out to make yourself a "course" to follow to feel more secure, but like i always say, "be prepared for the unexpected". Hopes this gives you some insight.

"Know yourself. The unexamined life is not worth living."
- Socrates
Nothing ever stays the same in this world (and to be honest, would you want bad things to stay bad just as you want good things to stay good?) But know yourself. If there is one thing that is sure; Know that this is your life. Life is precious. And this life is YOURS for a reason. Don't try to compare yourself with others, because their life is theirs as well for a purpose.

Remember that the Bible has not changed for over 2000 years. It will never change and neither will God. Trust in Him.
