ohhyeahh24, Saints are just sinners who keep getting back up again. But I would like to encourage you to avoid friends that might influence you to sin. God Be With You.

It seems we are on two sides on the coin here. There is the side of let youths find the church on their own and those who want to entice them to church.

Faith and ones relationship with God/dess, Higher Power, etc, is personal. One has to find their faith and develop a relationship with the Divine on their own. This idea of enticement sounds like someone trying to sell a used car. Cheap, tacky and kids see right through it.

I let my daughter choose her pathway, I just gave her love, taught her how to be a good person and think for herself, because I do not believe any Higher Power wants mindless drones wondering around spouting what others tell them to say. My daughter is now grown, believes in a Higher Power and is a really good girl (going to college, doesn't smoke, do drugs and has never been arrested or pregnant), which makes me very proud of her.

If the message is right them, don't you think people will find their way to the church? If they are not finding their way then maybe the message is not right for them.

This is a very hard thing to do. Teens are wanting all the world has to offer. So many churches are becoming more worldly to bring them in. Dances, parties, games, etc. Is that the will of God? I wouldn't think so. Jesus didn't die on the cross so that we can party at church.

robert p has hit the foundation of what it is to be a Christian. We must never forget Jesus Christ. Parties do no save our souls.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him:

I think RB has given us a very good example of this scripture. He told us how the youth were hungry for the word of God. He did not say he had to party to bring them in. When all is said and done these young people will have the word of God planted in them. Why? Because the spirit first had drawn them in. That is a great testimony.

I believe that it starts at home with our own children.
Giving them a vision and a hope. The only true way anyone would even want the Gospel is if they saw their need.
The only way to see their need would be to bring the law first.
The way to do that would be different in each case.
You have asked a very difficult question. I wish that there was a way to get young people more interested.
Amazingly enough, I know a quite a few young people who
are very interested in the Gospel but I believe that it is connected to the fact that their fathers have had their hearts turned to their own children first then to others.

The gospel of Jesus has worked for 2 thousand years.the problem is when any person, group,or denomination(s) try to use their own rules or try to bring in idolatry or try to do the ways of the world to draw in people and turn away the true gospel of Jesus.People need to know that Jesus shed His blood on the cross for the remission of sin.He was put in the grave but being perfect death and hell had to release Jesus (after 3 days).
With "ministers" becoming PC and not wanting to call sin (what it is) is sin. There are many new ways to draw people (including the young) to increase numbers.
What needs to happen is to return to Jesus. The Gospel of Jesus is the only way to salvation.Christians (especially ministers) are to share John 3:15-21 and 1John 3:16.If the gospel is shared people will repent and turn to God (some will always turn away).

I really wish I knew the answer to that question... if young people could pull back a curtain and see into their future, I am sure a lot of them would serve the Lord at a young age, but because God gives us free-will and choice, that can't happen. I starting serving the Lord at 16 years old and have never waivered in my walk with God, my walk, at times, slowed down, but I never quit. I really wish I knew what to do to get young people interested in our wonderful, loving Lord Jesus Christ.

I have the privilege of doing this. One in a youth group was telling me that she wasn't getting "meat". I offered a Bible study. She and her friend came the first week.. Then later they brought 2 more, and 3 more others came. They are hungry for the Word. I am teaching Christian apologetics. I teach and discuss for an hour, then open it up for any questions. I have a mixture of faiths, and even an atheist. I didn't have to do anything but offer to teach. God has brought them in! The hunger is there, and when word gets out, people come. This is a serious, no party group.

We can be more supportive of them in general, because I truly believe that the worst things ever said were said in a church. There are young people who vow to never again enter a church because they feel so rejected, and they reject the whole religion.

We can encourage them to be active in worship and hold their own services, in their own style. There's nothing wrong with contemporary services.

We have to make sure that their youth programs are properly funded, and that the youth pastors we hire are true Christians. I knew one who asked my sister if she was wearing a bra once.

The best way is through intense prayer and fasting and evangelizing.

Have youth outreach programs, retreats, camping out, mission work, That delivers the plan of salvation in a way that suits there interests.

At my church we have youth seminars, socials, week, fellowship, retreat, Bible quiz, and conventions.

For those who refuse to come to church or cannot come, we do home Bible studies and prayer meetings, Street side Sunday school, Street side meetings and prayer, Saturday morning prayer walks and Vocation Bible School.

We also have the word of life ministries where we visit other locations such as schools and other neighborhoods upon requests.

God bless

Happiness is the natural consequence of righteousness. Sin is self destructive. It brings only temporary pleasure and results in far reaching and life altering negative consequences. The purpose of religion is not just to get to heaven or keep from going to hell, it's also about being as free and as happy as possible in this life.

People often oppose religion because they feel it is restrictive, but if they really understood they would see that religion is empowering.

If we could get people to understand that, they would seek God and follow his teachings.

Parents, help your children to understand.

Appeal to them. As bad as that may sound to some people, a lot of young people do not attend church because they believe that those "holy folk" dont understand them, and in some cases that is true. So what those people need is someone who is to reach out to them in a not-so-traditional way. That kind of approach from people like Kirk Franklin, Martha Munizzi, and Tonex is commendable.
