i am a firm believer in that there is an Almighty being, i was raised to call him our Lord and his son our Jesus Christ, but what i want to know is there anyone out there like me who is more spiritual. i mean for me to sit here and say that the religion i choose is right, would be hipacritical of me i was raised as a christian, but i dont think its right to scare people into a religion, for ex: " if u dont go to church ur going to hell" "if u have sex before marriage ur going to hell" there are a lot of things i really dont agree with in some religions but yet there are so many similarities in other religions. all i can say is that my faith runs strong and god is in my heart, so why do ppl try to dout my faith just because i dont do every thing they do. whats ur insight in this subject how do u feel.

I'm glad to hear you are open to seeking.
My insight, imho, is that faith is not what you believe in theory. It is what you believe that drives your decisions.
Thus faith has less to do with theology than with reality.
If you believe in Christianity, you have to come to terms with whether the Bible teachings, and in particular the messages of Jesus, are truly God's teachings. If you decide it's not, you might as well write your own Bible - and some para-christian (but non-Christian) groups have done just that, e.g. Christian Science and Mormonism to name two.
If you decide it is the message of God, or at least that parts of it are the message of Jesus, then you have to decide if you should live your life in accord with what he said or go your own way.
If you decide to ignore what he said, then he is not your Lord in that area of your life.
Last suggestion: be acreful to look at what is writtne, not at how it is taught in one church or another. Some are a bit "throwed off" on how the teach some fine points. But Jesus did have some pretty clear messages on our attitudes toward money, sex, and treating others.
imho. Good luck and keep seeking. Most people who do find that the God they understand at age 50 is different from the one they thought they knew at age 15. Same God - different understanding in me.
Peace.

At this point continue to read your bible and do not take things literally that is written in it. But the important thing is to prove your love for God and Christ by obeying their commandments as John 14:15 says. You are right that some religions try to scare you into not doing what is bad. But what God really wants is love for his laws. Also ask others like other religionists about what they think is the best way to obey God. But of course the catch is there is only one religion that is right. The thing is you have to find out which one it is for God is not divided against himself. As a matter of fact he hates idolatry and false worship. Look up exodus 20:4-5. Also pray for god to help you in letting you know who truly are Christs followers.

If you don't believe your religion is the correct one...why bother claiming it?
Either you believe what is taught or you don't. Don't be a fence sitter. If you believe in the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Find out about them and follow Them. Either God is God and knows what is best for His children or he isn't. Either Jesus is the Son of God, our Lord and Savior...or He isn't and there is no atonement. Either there is sin or there isn't.
People try and make things all hazy and gray...but if you are going to be honest with yourself and God...then be honest. If you are going to choose the ways of the world...do it with your eyes wide open. If you are going to choose God...then don't pick and choose what you like and don't. If you are claiming a faith...then claim it. Live it. You don't have to be perfect...just honest...you just need to try...Just make a Choice. You can change your mind later if necessary.

There is no perfect church and again I say no not one. But there is a perfect God, His perfect Son, His perfect Spirit, and His perfect Word. If you do not like the "scare tactics" then do not use them. Show others the truth through love, and know that God has you there for a reason. It may be to plant the seed in someone, or maybe to reap the harvest. I am not to religious myself, religion has never saved anyone. There is only one name under heaver by which we are saved and that name is Jesus. You have my prayers, and may God pour blessings upon your life.
In Jesus Name

I think you are right. Sometimes religion can get in the way of spirituality. "The heart will take you places the mind can never go"

There is no definitive proof that God exists.
Jesus was a man.
Jesus was a Jew.
Jesus was a rabbi.
Jesus was never a Christian.

So, would you say your religion is wrong. Right or wrong, you can't sit on the fence. You have to choose right and stick with it.

I believe that, since language is the material with which we do our thinking, it is well worth the time spent to learn how to use it.
