why isn't more accepted for it's importance in the Religion and Spiritual arena . Don't people realize?Many of the best preachers priest have studied it and it's a branch of the same tree.

Psychology is not rejected by most Christians. They do, however, consider the spiritual side of psychology while many psychologist reject the spiritual for the science. The truth they can be used in tandem to help people. I know of a very well established psychologist who is also a very strong Christian. He has a great reputation in the science and religious communities. Anyone who thinks Christians don't understand the value of science, including psychology, has probably only had contact with a small group.

I don't think they generally are. They have Christian psychologists. Many people are still prejudiced agains psychiatrists and mix them up with psychologist becuase it centered on the insane and not prevention. Also talk therapy was not very helpful for that population until they found out that drugs were so effective for everyone and got more into counseling/teaching and more common problems like marriage. Now you have to go to them to a psychiatrist to get medications as they are also medical doctors. Of course counselors are not. Forty percent of scientist believe in a personal God and the number has remained steady for some time.

Many people still have the opinion that anything resembling mental illness or questions about the state of one's perceptions is "evil." Another factor is that some find it preferable to avoid the self-examination required by psychoanalysis, relying instead upon the "instant" cure offered by religion.
Unfortunately, the instant cure doesn't often work, leaving all of the root causes of the neurotic behavior unexplored while the patient believes that his thinking is sound.

As far as I know all pastors are required to take Psychology. I know I was required.

If they have an anger issue, they are possesed by Satan. If they are nice, they have Jesus in them.
