Isnt the truth of the matter that none of us KNOWS anything, we each just choose what to BELIEVE based on our life experience and accumulated knowledge. I can say I believe/disbelieve that somewhere in the universe there is a planet with silicone based lifeforms, but I cant say I know that to be true. I can say based on current knowledge its unlikely or it is likely, but I cant say I know.. Unless or until there is proof undeniable.. only then can I say I know. Now Atheists say the lack of evidence is the proof need to say they know god doesnt exist, Christians say the bible is the proof they need to say they know god does exist.. But isnt the truth of the matter that neither claim has any real evidence to back it up, or for that matter to call it anything more than an opinion or belief? It is my opinion that if more people admit thier ignorance there would be alot less strife. It is my belief that no god/s exist, but I am not arrogant enough to claim that I know that to be true.

if it's "though shall not kill" means that all the killing god told israelites to do are against his own commandments.
if it means" you should not kill anything whatsoever" would mean that all christians and jews should be vegans,
if it means" you shall not murder" it doesn't really help much, because murder is killing without justification, and justification gets really fuzzy depending on times and local customs, what's just in one society may be regarded as unjust in another one.
Are there other translations?

comes from the bible and your religion? Athesits don't constantly walk around negatively saying that 'man is sinful' and 'we are not worthy' and all this other invented nonsense to make you believe! It is like me injecting you with a disease then offering you the cure as salvation and calling that a religion. Surely you can see that it is all in your mind?!!

(Wonder if this one will fall on deaf ears..)

That is apples and oranges. Not the same thing at all, yet if I think of some thing 'bad' or 'sinful' according to the bible I have to pray for forgivness and hope that God won't send me to hell.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- A five-acre glacial lake in Chile's southern Andes has disappeared -- and scientists want to know why.

Park rangers at Bernardo O'Higgins National Park said they found a 100-feet-deep crater in late May were the lake had been in March. Several large pieces of ice that used to float atop the water also were spotted.

"The lake had simply disappeared," Juan Jose Romero, head of Chile's National Forest Service in the southernmost region of Magallanes, said Wednesday. "No one knows what happened."

A group of geologists and other experts will be sent to the area 1,250 miles southeast of Santiago in the next few days to investigate, Romero said.

One theory is the water disappeared through cracks in the lake bottom into underground fissures. But experts do not know why the cracks would have appeared because there have been no earthquakes reported

Currently a Congregationalist; looking to find something that is traditional in service and music. Strong Christian Ed for two young boys important. Not having much luck with the larger churches around. OK with going to another denomination; just not sure which one is right for us. Thanks!!

...Christians who believed in Armageddon and Judgment Day thought during World War I? Or World War II? Or the Great Depression? Or Korea? Or Vietnam? Or the FIRST time we went to Iraq? Hmmm?

What about all the times in the past when we've had war, famine, and disease? Do you think people thought the world was ending then?

Are they any different than those who think it's ending now?

I live in the OC, many men have stereotyped me for it.. I grew up in the country, I'm not materialistic or anything like that, I'm nice for the most part unless you disrespect me.. But why do men always seem to love to put me down when I make a valid point in a debate? I know I'm not stupid, but it makes me so angry!

There are sounds in other languages that are hard to discriminate from other sounds. At what age does a child's first language acquisition stop him from making the distinction. Ex. Many Japanese people have a hard time distinguishing between the r and l sounds.
