That is apples and oranges. Not the same thing at all, yet if I think of some thing 'bad' or 'sinful' according to the bible I have to pray for forgivness and hope that God won't send me to hell.

John: I thought it was all God's word and men did not interperit it and throw in their biasedness. So it would not matter what version I am talking about, right?

Ok I will try not to sound sarcastic or to laugh out loud when I say this;

Didn't you know the Bible was well ahead of it's time; even psychologically? After all, apparently the mind can make anything happen...

either that, or your local priest is psychic and knows what you're up to... doesn't that make him a heathen, though?

Sorry, didn't work, started laughing after typing the first word :(

The concept of the Bible is that mankind was created with a sinful nature. This sinful nature is called sin. The things we do in the flesh that people call sin are in reality the "fruits" of this sin nature. It's the "tree" that Jesus spoke of saying; A good tree can not put forth evil fruit, or an evil tree can not bring forth good fruit.

People look at the letter of the Law. Thats what the law says at face value. However, Jesus spoke of the Spiritual Essence of the Law. That's what the law says in truth, and not at face value. Now, looking at the Spiritual Essence of the Law, Jesus says; That whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her. Has committed adultary in his heart.

Why? It's because of the sin nature. Jesus say its not what goes into a man, that defileth the man. But its what comes out of the man, those are the things that defileth.

Then in Matthew 15:19 Jesus says; For out of the "heart" proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Exactly how is that so?

Its because mankind has a sinful "heart" condition.

Impure thoughts can lead to impure actions. You don't wake up from a dream and discover yourself drilling your neighbor's wife or stealing a car stereo. The point is to keep your thoughts on God, and a pure life will follow. And according to the Bible, as long as you approach with a contrite heart and ask Jesus to forgive you, you can be sure of going to Heaven, even if you still have those impure thoughts now and then.

None but we have Philippians 4 also as a guide. Also how can you think of God and at the same time have lust full or impure thoughts. God can not be associated with evil or something impure. 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters,6 whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things. 4:9 And what you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God of peace will be with you
God Bless. Love in Jesus Christ

If we become obsessed with impure thoughts we are offending the chastity to which we professed as baptised christians. However, THINKING about having an adulterous affair is not the same sin as actually HAVING an adulterous affair.

Jesus said that when a man looks lustfully at a woman, he has committed adultery in his heart. That is true. However, adultery in the heart is not the same thing as the physical act of adultery.

All sinful acts commence with the thought. So, it is best to nip things at the bud... so to speak.

because impure thought come from satan and not our Lord God. If you dwell upon the impure thought you need to purify your self to God because you are sinning but if you push it aside and not even think it again than you have cleansed yourself of satans evil work. when you have impure thoughts or urges say get back behind me satan you will not torment me with this evilness and ask God for help to push the impure thoughts and urges aside. You will be ok it happens to everyone no one is perfect or sin free. We are all tempted on a daily or even on a moments basis.

Just a thought that pops into your head is not equivalent to a deed. But if you dwell on something and desire it so much that you would do it if you had the chance, and the only thing that is keeping you from actually doing it is lack of opportunity, than that is the same as actually committing the act.

Everyone has impure thoughts from time to time. What the word is trying to teach you is not to dwell on those thoughts. We do not have to let our thoughts control our actions. And most of the time, if we think on something long enough, those thoughts will turn into actions. Think on things that are pure, lovely and of a good report!

1. Because its all about the heart. God cares about what we do, but He also cares about who we are. Jesus pointed out that the conditions of our hearts are of utmost importance.

2. We are judged against God's measure of holiness, which is His perfect self. The thoughts of our minds and feelings in our hearts are unholy, as well as our deeds.

3. Your understanding of forgiveness is misguided. When we really understand and realize that we don't stack up to God's holiness and the just punishment for this, then we can't help but turn to God and cry out for forgiveness. God is loving enough that He created a way, out of incredible personal sacrifice, that we can be forgiven. He wants to forgive us.

People who pray to God for forgiveness to escape Hell will likely find themselves there when they die, because they haven't experienced true transformation that comes with knowing and living for God. Its not out of fear that we are transformed, but because through love and grace.

Where in the Bible is that said?
You'll have a hard time finding it.
The only thing that comes close is Jesus' words about what we dwell on.
He wasn't referring to thoughts that come to our mind, but rather thoughts that come to mind AND we allow them to stay there, even dwelling upon them.
If those thoughts are 'impure' then we are simply an accident waiting to happen.
The only thing missing is opportunity.
