I have a BS in Physics, a minor in mathematics, im taking post secondary education courses in philosophy and have 2 letters of recomendation to attend a Masters course in consciousness research, well versed in the Pythagorean Quadrivium(mathematics, harmonic theory, geometry and astronomy) and how those 4 subjects are related. I know mathematical history better than most of the professors I have had. But yet when I mention I believe in God and an underlying intelligent order to the Universe I am automatically labeled " Christian fanatic"( Im not Christian) or a believer in superstition or weak of mind etc etc etc . I know how science works, I know the laws physics and astronomy, but I still believe in God, so why does that make me "stupid"?

Someone else asked a question that got me thinking about this. What kind of scientific knowledge about fossils do they have?Do they have Paleontologists who actually got an education at an accredited university? What kind of knowledge do they have about dating methods such as radiometric dating (including potassium, argon, uranium series, and carbon-14 dating) ?How many archaeologists do they employ? What method of science do they use to reach their conclusions? Is it all guess work to coincide with belief?Do they consider themselves to be educational? In what manner do they think they have achieved a level of academics over religious propaganda? Why do they only teach the Old Testament version of creation?Don't other beliefs deserve consideration? How can they be considered anything more then a self fulfilling delusion museum?

Please, I sincerely, just want to hear your thoughts,
please no hostility.

When one ask questions like,
" Who created the creator? "
" How could God always have been? "

When these kind of questions arise, as they should naturally, and they do not seem to make any sense,
have you ever thought that the finite can never understand the infinite?

How can a finite being ever fully comprehend an infinite being?

By those dynamics alone should that not tell someone that just because it does not seem to make sense to the natural mind one should not just right it off as nonsense?

"The grace of God through Jesus Christ our Lord must be understood as follows:grace is the only thing that delivers human beings from evil; without it, they do absolutely nothing good, whether in thought, or in will and emotion, or in action. Grace not only makes known to people what they ought to do, but also enables them to perform with love the duty that they know."

A lot of atheists tout the richness and happiness of a genuine life, but I still think there's something missing. Personally, I think the desires that have inspired people to create fantasy afterlives, where they have no hardship and can be with their loved ones, are genuine and valid human needs. We suffer bacause of the facts of life. Do you agree that it would be a great thing if we actually COULD have this type of afterlife?

I cant understand why do some people think there is nothing behind your knowledge.I dont know why some people think that they are the most intelligent, they can't think of anything else without their limited knowledge. If your logic tells you that there is no god, Why do you think there is actually no real god? Forget religions, I'm not going to prove my religion here, cause my proof will not be able to enter most of you people's INTELIIGENT(???) head But don't say there is no god! There is one creator, all religions worship the same god in different manners, that's the difference. but the god is only ONE, and HE is there.
Did you get it, PEOPLE? AND THAT's IT!

I just took a cab and the guy behind the wheel started to talk about atheistic materialism. Then he went on speaking about how Evolution and Darwinism are a religion and the National Academy of Sciences attempts to quell debate on this subject. He also talked about the singularity of the Big Bang, then stated there must be a god behind it. I answered all of his points and corrected his misinformation on evolution.

Then he jumped to huge assumptions. He said that scientific unknowns must be evidence for the God of the Bible and Jesus, literally interpreted as in Genesis and the New Testament. How can a smart guy make such philosophical missteps, much less believe in the literal interpretation of the Old Testament?

He ended the debate by wishing for the conversion of my soul, and stating hat public schools forced atheistic materialism down children's throats.

Not all elderly people are senile or semi-literate; most old people have a lot of experience which they could share to the benefit of youngsters and many are highly educated and could teach a lot, given the opportunity.
Now-a-days elderly members of our western society are not held with the same esteem as their forebearers. Just the opposite they are often ridiculed or rudely ignored.
What would you suggest to remedy this, bearing in mind that we will all be old one day (if we survive)?

Then where did god come/what created him/her/it?

And, after you give me the wonderfully inadequate "god was always there," please answer the following as well. If it makes sense for god to have always been there, then why does it not make sense for the universe to have always been there? In other words, if god doesn't need a creator, why should the universe? Or, could one perhaps say that the universe is god?

(Note: If you can provide a less woefully inadequate answer to the first question, the others may not apply to you. Though, seeing the kinds of questions I pose, you may be able to anticipate a few that I might respond with and answer those as well.)

but i say i did. who's right? i suppose i can have a debate with god and we can settle this. since nobody can prove i didn't it's my word against his. being that he is not bound by time, finding the time to debate me should be no problem for him. if he doesn't show i'm with the winner.
