Wicca is a nature based polytheistic religion started circa 1950. It's no worse or better than any other religion.

What passes for Wicca today is loosely based on ancient pagan religious practices. Pagan religions worship things like the earth and spirits they believe inhabit trees and things like that. They might use a particular plant to treat a headache that had an analgesic quality to it. It would work but they had no idea why so they would attribute spiritual or magical qualities to it.
Nowadays, there are certain people, usually outcasts who feel powerless in life, that this appeals to. They cast spells and chant and do incatations etc. It makes them feel like they are powerful or special or better than everyone else in some way.
It is pretty harmless in and of itself. But some people of the particularly pathetic variety, incorporate evil intentions and dark thinking into it. This makes it more of a witchcraft sort of thing. As per usual, the next thing you know they are some kind of satan worshipers.
But actually wiccan is just your garden variety natural remedy for illness, hit or miss kind of practice.

Wicca is one of the more fun religions presently on the market. Wiccans tend to revere nature and like to gather in natural places to gather and celebrate nature and to practice "magick." The only problem with Wicca is the same as that of other religions: there are too many people who take it too seriously and all fundamentalist about it. Religion can be excellent theatre and is a great opportunity for social interaction, so long as you don't really turn your mind off and believe the more outrageous claims that all religions make.

hmm wicca is a religion based on the beliefs of a goddess - Isis and God - Osiris. During the Wiccan year there are 12 sabbats - six major and six minor, when you celebrate the stages of the God and Goddess lives in different ways. It also includes spellbinding and spiritual healing. It is only bad if you use bad wicca, ie hexing (casting bad spells) or being greedy (ie wanting money). Afterall what you do to others thrice comes back to you!!! (btw thrice is 3 times!!)

"Wicca, sometimes called "The Craft" or "The Craft of the Wise" is one of many earth-based religions. The religion which is closest to Wicca in America is probably Native American spirituality. Traditional Wicca was founded by Gerald Gardner, a British civil servant, who wrote a series of books on the religion in the 1940's. It contains references to Celtic deities, symbols, seasonal days of celebration, etc. Added to this were components of ceremonial magic and practices of the Masonic Order. A more recent form is eclectic Wicca which involves a combination of Wiccan beliefs and practices, combined with other Pagan and non-Pagan elements. The various traditions of Wicca are part of the Pagan or Neopagan group of earth-based religions. "

"That it harm none do what thou wilt" the Wiccan Rede.
What's wrong with that? Wicca encourages
Equality of the sexes
Respect for all life.
Viewing any thing that happens as a learning experience.
What's wrong with that?
Wicca does not oppose any religious belief.
IT IS NOT SATANIC. It's based on beliefs that predate monotheism.
What's wrong with that?

Maybe if you told those who answer your questions what you have heard that makes you ask is Wicca bad they can tell you more.
No Wicca isn't bad. It is how the people act that you should judge its merit on, rather than people who say something is good or bad!

im not gonna bother to tell you what it is cuz everyone has already told you that, and im not an expert on it, i just wanted to tell you that no, it is not bad. no religon is bad. dont let people scare you out of something that you are really interested in, just becuase they dont think or believe the same as you. im just gonna let you know that if you do dive into wicca further, you will get a bad rep for it. everyone who i know that has openly explored wicca has had terrible things said to them about how they are going to go to hell. maybe it is just because of where i live (in the heart of the bible belt, rural IL) but if you are really serious about it, then you will have to ignore these remarks. and this dosent go just for wicca, it goes for all the people who are openly exploreing other religions (besides christianity) once again, it may just be where i am from, but i just wanted to warn you. good luck!

Wiccan is one of the "pagan" religions. It is polytheistic (more than one deity) although usually has one god and one goddess. It has been around for centuries.
You will be told it is bad, that it is evil, and that it is devil worship. That is my favorite part. I don't believe in the devil, so how do I worship him?
