A lot of atheists tout the richness and happiness of a genuine life, but I still think there's something missing. Personally, I think the desires that have inspired people to create fantasy afterlives, where they have no hardship and can be with their loved ones, are genuine and valid human needs. We suffer bacause of the facts of life. Do you agree that it would be a great thing if we actually COULD have this type of afterlife?

The world itself fine - volcanoes, earthquakes and freak weather conditions not withstanding

It's one of the animals on it thats the problem

HOw long would this afterlife last for? Wouldn't eternity get a bit boring. Would everyone be there? If so what about the "bad" people? Would they still be bad or be good?

Absolutely and well said

I don't desire my existence to end with a mere 70-80 years if I'm lucky. I'd like to take a billion years and explore the universe... and then another one and another one.

I wish everyone could have the afterlife they want as well.

I just don't see anything substantial about the afterlife to sink my teeth, or beliefs into

Did I mention this was an excellent question?

I take offense at being lumped in with communist atheists.

Of course the idea of an afterlife is great. I don't particularly like the fact that there's no evidence for life after death, but that in itself doesn't cause evidence to spring forth from nowhere.

It's probably better to work for a decent life in this world, which is the only one we will have, than to fantasise about an 'afterlife'.

Yes i do think that would be a great thing, i think if it was so in your face obvious we would know more about it, it isn't meh that would be nice, but if we all put efforts into saving lives and such, much may be avoided

Well, honestly, those who can't deal with the possibility that there may be no afterlife may need it, but it's not our problem. We'll still keep our same beliefs.

Oh, that it were true, how lovely it would be, but alas, I think it not so.

Row row your boat,
gently down the stream,
Merrily, merrily, merrily ,merrily,
Heaven is but a dream

It's better to enjoy this life just in case it's all we get.

Is this world very good? Not really.
Would it be great to have an afterlife? Yes.

I don't know, I'd miss out on a lot of fun while I was alive.

Why would an atheist believe such? They're atheists for God's sake! Haha.
