Well first off who did more for the world, that would be Jesus because really does John Lennon have a religion no, much like you said has John Lennon had wars over him no, do people go up and have debates on what John Lennon would have done no. Therefore based on this very criteria Jesus just kicked John Lennon's A$$ in terms of doing things for the world, because you never specified WHAT they did for the world.
Now lets go with what you presumed you were asking in terms of "good" deeds. Again Jesus kicks John Lennon's A$$ wtf did John Lennon ever do he smoked doped shot up herion and said peace and love man lets stop this war. I don't remember John lennon lets see defying and entire EMPIRE such as Jesus, um Jesus also has influnced people such as Mother Teresa, Doctors, Lawyers, SOcial workers in fact most these people help out others becuase they feel it is the work of god. John Lennon inspired what for people to say stop that man lets go smoke up wtf did John Lennon ever do to start peace on top of that I don't see people over in other countries trying to cure aids because John Lennon said so.
In terms of every impact Jesus hand down has annihilated John Lennon in terms of EVERYTHING for the world. In fact just by asking this questoin your showing your bigortry towards a religion and a faith which you are probably upset about for being a bunch of bigots seems ironic doesnt it?
I agree that many people have mutilated the words teaching and doings of Jesus but if you really want answer go read the impact that he has had and not what Karl Rove and the Moral Majority because that is the wrong version of Jesus, and in fact to say he did nothing is just ignorant becuase if were going with blanket statements based on false presumptions then he raised the dead healed the blind helped a poor woman who needed water and countless of other hungry people, where John Lennon did what have a concert?

I trust for just trying to rile people.
You don't really believe what you are saying?
Don't get my wrong, I'm a big Lennon fan.
I'm a big Beatles fan.
I think Lennon's death is the saddest event in modern music history. December 8, 1980. Assassinated by Mark David Chapman, on the steps of the Dakota. Returning home from the studio. After just finding out his album "Double Fantasy" was doing well. "Starting Over" it's first single was moving up on the charts.
"Double Fantasy" reaches #1 three weeks after his death.
What Lennon could have done, he was only 40 years old.
But, don't compare John Lennon to Jesus Christ.
Lennon did that in the '60's and it didn't go over to well.

I don't know if I even believe in Jesus, but if I did-
How can you blame Jesus for wars that were fought in his name. Even if you believe the bible to be a myth, that was not the lesson that "Jesus" taught. He preached acceptance, love and the same things that John Lennon preached.
I somehow doubt that Jesus, mythical or not, would have written a song entitled "Woman is the ****** of the World", like the song John Lennon wrote.
I really love John Lennon's work, but you are idealizing him too much i.m.o.

Many people did many good things. I wouldn't know who to put at the top of the list. I wouldn't put Jesus as he didn't do much for the world. He didn't cure sickness, thru the world, He didn't spread peace thru the world, (he even said he came with a sword) he didn't do a lot of things. He died. That's not doing something for the world in less you believe that whole sin stuff. Any ways, that's not anything substantial and proved and known at that time, through out the world.
How about Johannes Gutenberg inventor of the printing press? That was something that improved the world. It aloud for information to be available to the people. It allowed for common everyday people to own a bible!
Let the thumbs down commence!

Actually, I'm not a very religious person and I love the Beatles, but I'm thinking Jesus has helped more people than John Lennon.

What wars exactly are in Jesus' name? Forget healing the blind and all that nonsense right? Yes John Lennon's songs are have great messages, but are rarely practiced.

I guess Jesus. He was a healer and teller of the ways one should live. Not to mention the fact that he died for our sins and is the son of God. John Lennon was more of an activist, who obssessed about a utopian world that can never exist, but damn it we should try. He wanted peace and harmony and loving one another.

I beg your pardon. John Lennon sold the concept of peace and got rich off it. His success never left him going without lavish possessions and a lifestyle that most of his fans could only ever 'imagine'.

Well, your question doesn't stipulate that I am to choose which one did more POSITIVE things for the world, so I'd pick Jesus hands down. In terms of influence over history -- actual change -- Lennon has nothing on him.
And, frankly, I'm not religious but it's unfair to blame the awful actions of mankind in the name of Jesus -on- Jesus. He didn't tell anyone to go to war in his name.
