Do you believe the virgin mary prayers are a form of idolaltry and that only GOD should be worshipped and not symbols or so called saints? What about the symbol of the cross? I am baptist and I Believe the Roman Catholic church combined pagan rituals with religion only to extend their power over the common people of that era. I Know that Constiatine was the first to be baptized by sprinkling of water because he was to sick to get out of bed. Also easter is the spring fertility ritual of pagans which symbols are rabbits and eggs.And what about christmas its the birthday of Constiatine. How many of you have checked your Bibles to see if you are being taught the true meaning of GODs purpose for our life?

Not so much a question but a story wanting feedback.

I'm agnostic/atheist

Today I'm at work ( I work in electronics sales) and two white guys in suits walk in. At first I think they're buisnessmen, but then I notice they both have name badges that state their full names followed by "Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints". They also have pamphlets and leaflets sticking out their pockets that I can only assume are about Christianity.

I think "Not this converting/finding God crap again"(I've gotten this quite a bit from Christains in my childhood), but to my surprise, they weren't preaching or educating or anything. They simply asked about mp3 players, bought a pair, very very polite, and the only time they brought up "God blessing me" was after I sneezed!

Anyone else of agnostic/atheist views met a nice Christian or any other religous type not trying to convert others?

If Christian or religous, do you also treat people with decency and good will regardless of fait

I have a rather stupid argument going on that I'd like to end once and for all. How do you pronounce 'Carlotta' in Spanish? I say just as it's spelled, the other person says you roll the 'R.' I was taught that only the double 'R' is rolled. A native speaker would be great, so then this stupidity can end.

DBZnut is right in his statement that at LEAST 15,000 muslims are fighting in the US Army, for this person's very right to state that they don't matter. What is wrong with the people who think like this? Do they think life is deserved or not based on religion? I honestly still can not understand how people can be so cold. He should be happy they are not on the other side. I am a muslim woman, and I do have several members of my family who have served in the US Army. My grandfather was buried with the whole honor thing (please forgive me, I don't know the correct term). My grandmother was handed his flag. He had two Purple Hearts, among several other medals that are in my uncle's possession, because he is the eldest. Can you please share your thoughts on how ignorance is too common, and suggest ways of how we can teach our children to determine character of a person, and go by that instead of religion/skin?

This question was posed almost a year ago, and the answers were interesting. How about this group?

For me, it would be to see them revere the eucharist more. My church teaches the elements are 'symbols' of the body and blood of Christ. I think they take that position to be clear they do not hold to 'transubstantiation" (similar to most Protestants and many Roman Catholics, particularly after Vatican II). But I prefer the idea that the elements become, for us, the body and blood of Christ - in the spiritual sense if not the physical.

I attended a Mass once where the host was placed in a position of honor after the service for the faithful to revere - not as an idol but in veneration. I loved the idea.

"Verbum et elementum et fil sacramentum." The Word and the elements are the sacraments (Luther)
