Not so much a question but a story wanting feedback.

I'm agnostic/atheist

Today I'm at work ( I work in electronics sales) and two white guys in suits walk in. At first I think they're buisnessmen, but then I notice they both have name badges that state their full names followed by "Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints". They also have pamphlets and leaflets sticking out their pockets that I can only assume are about Christianity.

I think "Not this converting/finding God crap again"(I've gotten this quite a bit from Christains in my childhood), but to my surprise, they weren't preaching or educating or anything. They simply asked about mp3 players, bought a pair, very very polite, and the only time they brought up "God blessing me" was after I sneezed!

Anyone else of agnostic/atheist views met a nice Christian or any other religous type not trying to convert others?

If Christian or religous, do you also treat people with decency and good will regardless of fait

I kind of chuckled when I read the title to your question...

I personally am a Christian, but I will be honest.. I don't go about town trying to convert people. In fact, I probably wouldn't even discuss my faith unless asked about it first. I don't think it's my place to "push" my beliefs on other people. Yes, I would be more than happy to talk about what I believe if someone were to ask me of course.

Being someone that doesn't walk around telling everyone they're Christian at the drop of a hat, etc.. I have run into people that have shared their faith, etc.. Interestingly though, I find that it's a LOW percentage that actually are "in my face" and such. Most that I meet are very decent about it. (This includes people of various Christian belief systems such as Protestant, Catholic, Mormon, JW, etc..)

I think that those guys that you met were a fine example of the way people SHOULD be and I am glad that you had that opportunity to see that not ALL Christians are pushy and such.

I think sometimes the reason that people that are agnostic/atheist that suggest that the only Christians that they ever meet are trying to push their religion, etc.. is because the many other Christians they meet.. never even mention their beliefs.. and so you have no idea that they were Christian or not.

Just my thoughts of course. :)

Have a wonderful day :)

"If Christian or religous, do you also treat people with decency and good will regardless of fait[h?]"

Absolutely. It's required if you want to be called a Christian.

Psssst. Lemme let you in on a little secret.

People who are mean who claim to be Christian, are not representing Christ at all at that moment.

Try to separate the belief from the believers. Works every time.

I can't believe that this is the first time you have ever met a nice christian. You probably have met many, they just don't stand there and try to convert you. Most people I have met or talk to on the street or in a store or at a party, etc. are nice people. I don't ask them their religious beliefs, I am simply relating to them as a fellow human. - I hope you continue to meet nice people.

I treat everyone with respect and decency. I do not go around preaching at people, pointing out sins (since I am not at all perfect) or trying to convert them.
I don't hate people of any denomination or religion or Atheist/agnostic. People have a right to live how they choose just as I do.

Yeah that's too bad. Latter Day Saints aren't considered to be Christians by Christians (as they don't believe half the stuff that it takes to be called a Christian) and the Latter Day Saints don't believe other Christians are true as well.

Hi, I'm Jake. I'm a Christian, and I've been told I'm nice.

What can I help you with?

See, we're not all bad, are we?

I treat all people with respect and decency. I say, "I'm really Christian. I hope that's not a bad thing," and only quote Scripture if they say, "Man, I wish I could find strength" or something similar. Then I casually mention it, and if they're interested, I go on. If not, then I just leave it at that...

I was walking home once and was accosted by two Christians from a local church who regularly attempt conversions as they walk about town. They asked me their standard questions and I actually had quite a nice discussion with them about the purpose of meaning and man after I turned them down. In all honesty, I kind of miss those fellows.

I know a ton of nice people from all walks of life. Same goes for the opposite. If these are the first nice christians that you have met, perhaps you need to get out more.

nicely now, it a minimum of sounds as although issues are fairly returning to regularly occurring for you 2, i'm relieved. Hmm, a conceivable ploy at moral rigidity in church guise? allow's wish no longer, previous buddy. Take look after now. Noah.
