The majority of smokers I meet immediately jump on the defensive and are very unsympathetic when I remark that their smoking is not only exspensive but it smells, irritates my eyes and affects the functioning of my lungs. If I had a habit that caused me to spit mucus from my eyes every other hour because I liked the feeling it gave me, people would say that it was disgusting and unhygienic. What's the difference?

Since the beginning Jo who is extremely articulate despite looking limited in intellect(which I think is a ploy), has made snide remarks to Jade and Danielle who definately are not the brightest spark, and therefore easy to manipulate, I don't think shes racist she just detests good old fashioned feminism.

This Ehren gave all his reasons for not going to join the fighting in Irak at this stage . The continued use of force cannot solve religious problems. It is not sentimentality that he talks about. He has the courage to walk Like M L K facing all the odds.

I know I am inspiring hatred towards myself however if you read my other question on romance and laws of physics you will understand why is it very hard to let go of the things you get used to even if you know they are wrong.

Let me get going with mistakes in Quran part 3.

Sun-set and Sun-rise
Koran teaches us that the Sun sets in a muddy spring:
Quran 18: 86 Till, when he (the traveller Zul-qarnain) reached the setting-place of the Sun, he found it going down into a muddy spring…
Quran 18: 90 Till, when he reached the rising-place of the Sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had appointed no shelter from it.
Serious scientific errors here! Firstly, it is scientifically accepted fact that, the Sun never go down in a muddy spring. Secondly, this seems to presuppose a FLAT Earth, otherwise how can there be an extreme point in the West or in the East? A sunrise there would be basically just the same as at any other place on this earth, at land or sea. It would still look as if it is setting “far away”. It does say, that he reached THE PLACE where the Sun sets and in his second Journey the place where it rises.
A resting place for Sun!?
Quran 36: 38 And the sun runneth on unto a resting place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise.
Quran 36: 39 And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm leaf.
Quran 36: 40 It is not for Sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit.
Allah is indeed a big scientist. Where is sun and where is moon situated? Can anybody tell me how they could collide/meet/overtake each other? Are the sun and the moon neighbors to each other? I have the answer for this error: Ancient Allah saw (bare eye observations) sun and moon traveling from east to west seemingly in the same Sky area or same path, without colliding, causing day and night etc. Allah hardly could imagine that all these phenomena are simply due to Earth’s rotation and NOT by Sun’s rotation. Sun is stationary for Earth, because earth is stuck in the sun’s Gravity, like we are stuck in earth’s gravity. Allah never says any where in the whole Quran that, EARTH ROTATES. Perhaps Allah could not feel earth’s rotation.
A resting place for sun WAS CONFIRMED BY HADITHS?
Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 54, Number 421
Sahih Bukhari Hadiths: Abzur Ghifari (ra) narrated: one day Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) asked me, “Abzar do you know after setting where does Sun go?” I replied, I do not know, only Allah’s apostle can say better. Then Prophet (SA) replied, “After setting, the sun remains prostrated under Allah’s Aro’sh and waits for Allah’s command for rising again in the East. Day will come when sun will not get permission to rise again and Qeyamot will fall upon Earth”.
Can anybody tell me what is it? It was the superstitious belief of ancient people reflected in the Quran and Hadiths by Allah. A 10-year-old boy would not tell such fairy tale story today.

Consider the life of Albert Einstein, which is now a closed book. It was a life mostly spent in the contemplation of nature and mathematics. Althought he was given to making Deisitic statements like "God does not play dice with the Universe", as a matter of historical record he:
1) was not a practicing Jew, although he was born a Jew;
2) he did not accept Jesus as his Savior;
3) was not Islamic;
4) did not practice any formal religion (although one of his decendants could, in the future, convert to the Church of Latter-Day Saints).

He lived a life that was largely free of sin, although he was divorced, was unfaithful to both his wives, and tended to be emotionally distant from his children. He did write the famous letter to President Roosevelt that started the atomic bomb project, although the development of the bomb was inevitable anyway.

What is the scriptural evidence that indicates the possible fate (if so decided) of Einstein in the afterlife? Please give references.

It is not uncommon for “god” to speak to someone and encourage them to commit a violent crime (example Andrea Yeats). The commonality of such events seems to parallel the rate at which violent video games seem to influence criminal behavior. I have not done an actual study this is just casual observation.

Do you think religion is harmful to our children?

I once heard in a religion course I was taking that a certain group in Judaism of the Old Testament protested that the high priest was no longer a son of Aaron or Levite and so separated themselves (this would have been sometimes after the return from the exile and before the coming of the Romans). Which group was this and what were the circumstances? Could someone help me out? Please indicate sources, thanks. I'm placing this under history because I'm more interested in historical rather than religious implications. Thanks.

And it's not the Sadducees

Every religion has some kind of tenet that their deity is the one true deity. Being omnipotent and being many, it seems, is a mutally exclusive event.

I think I've come up with a theory that explains it.

Each religion's god says, "I am the one true deity" because they are... in a sense.

You see, when it's time for the final battle of good vs. evil, deities from each of the religions will join together like Voltron or Captain Planet.

Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Gaia (that's the earth mother, if you're not familiar with Wicca), and Vishnu (multi-armed god of Hinduism) will all put their power rings into a circle and combine into the ultimate deity, Captain Righteousness.

Then they can at once combat evil, pollution, and the sins of man.

Kind of like how a parent is expected to provide for a child for the first 18 years of life.

Should God be expected to provide a better level of care then he is currently providing?

At the very least child support, right?

At least up until then before he starts juding us, calling us ungrateful sinners and threatening us with Hell.

I am conducting my very first sunday school class to a room full of Teenage girls and the topic is about abortion. Not so much that it is morally and biblicly wrong but the effects and tolls it takes on the people involved. I just want general reponses to share w/ the girls to give them some ideas about the subject from people all over.
In case your wondering I am against. There are to many people in this world that would die to have a baby and can't and I feel it to be an insult to those people who want them and can't for people to go around and kill there unwanted children instead of maybe adoption.

I have noticed that through out the world, there is a new philosophy that rules.
It is a philospophy that we should do everything as wrong as we can and that punishing those who desirve it should mean being punished back!

It is like me slapping you, and you tell the police, and I slap you for telling the police. I justify that it is only fiar because you counter attacked me, so I should *counter* attack you back.

It is just like going to the lavatory and having a crap and you flush it, to find that the lavatory spits the crap back into your asse again.

What philosophy is this and how should I respond to it, noting that the more that I do to reach a state of balance, the more imbalanced it gets?

If an unbeliever, somebody who is not a Christian blasphems God and his precious Son Jesus to the point it is the worst thing you have ever heard that is beyond words of evil can we as Christians bring a curse on them in the name of Jesus? I have heard the most disgusting things on here regarding Jesus and God it made my want to vomit, the things they were saying came from the very pits of Hell where they belong, and if they do not repent and keep doing it may God have mercy on their soul as they will be burning in Hell as they would deserve. Christians does't it make you sick to hear the hatred they have for God?God is not mocked, but God will be mocking them when he sends them to Hell. How do you deal with no hoppers like that? It proves that Satan is their father.
