It is not uncommon for “god” to speak to someone and encourage them to commit a violent crime (example Andrea Yeats). The commonality of such events seems to parallel the rate at which violent video games seem to influence criminal behavior. I have not done an actual study this is just casual observation.

Do you think religion is harmful to our children?

Very harmful. It teaches them to give up thier own mind and submit to a mindwashing. Parents lie (who are also washed) to thier kids. Kids become fearful of something they can't see. I know as a child my hubby's mother scared the hell out of him with Jesus and the sun turning black and crap.

God did not tell Andrea Yates to kill her children, she used that excuse to try and make the court believe that she is crazy and that sadistic woman knew exactly what she was doing and why and God didn't have a thing to do with it,she did it all for herself and all on her own.

You would think that people today would have enough sense to know by now that when people commits a violent crime they do it for their own personal sick & selfish reasons and sometimes tries to blame God for it when in reality God didn't have a thing to do with it.

People are harmful to everyone,if you hurt or kill someone you do it because you want to and not because God told you to do it which is really false as well as it is foolish.

People like Andrea Yates who is fully aware of what she has done and why they done it wants to try and use God as an escape goat to get out of paying society for their own crimes in which they planned it and executed it all by themselves of which God had nothing to do with it and if people are that naive and ignorant to believe Andrea Yates then they have no business being on the judge bench or on the jury.

Well as a christin I do have to say first that God is not concerened about our religion, but He is concerned with our RELATIONSHIP with Him. I say this because there are so many people who call themselves christians, muslims or whatever God they choose to follow, the thing is only about half of them have truly laid down their life for their "God".
On another note, yes I think it bad for kids to play violent video games because just from experience I have 2 sons and normally they are calm and very well behaved. Yet when they even as much watch something like power rangers or the teenage mutant ninja turtles they get rowdy and bug out on me.
Religion is harmful to adults and children. It portrays God as a mean angry God, but relationship with Him lets you know that Gos is slow to anger, loving, compassionate, kind, and merciful. I dont know but it kinda seems like an attack but I may be wrong, you may genuinley want to know. Anyhow, good luck :)

Religion can't be harmful to our children if we take the trouble to find the right religion. Some religions promote violence in the name of religion while there are other religions that try to instill proper code of conduct to the young generation.

Inspite of a general belief that religion separates people the truth is that religion has helped the human being from turning to the animal life. Religion is supposed to work for us unfortunately a handful of wrong people have given bad name to religion that has served us for thousands of years.

That's complicated, what can I say for sure?
If a kid is messed up to start with, not necessarily evil, but confused, then a child is more likely to think God has told him/her to do a violent act, just as much as a video game would.
They are also a medium to remind the child that there is a possiblity to perform a violent act,
But in general, not really. but you have to admit, there are exceptions, maybe more than I really know of at the moment, its a scary thought.

When we wrote them for school we could pick any topic. I know someone that said why every child should have a pet. Find a topic that you are very passionate about and just twist it to make it argumentative. I have found that this makes the best paper. Some typical topics that everyone tends to write about are gun control, single sex marriage, war in Iraq, child beauty pagents, animal testing, religion in school, gender specific schools, and school uniforms. Good Luck!

Just as different children have different reactions to video games, so they do with religion. This could be a negative response.

I think that Religion is the most harm full thing to our children. It teaches them not to think for them selves. Not to form their own moral compasss. They look to others to give them a compas on how to act, and that is often messed up because those people are not often honest.
