Every religion has some kind of tenet that their deity is the one true deity. Being omnipotent and being many, it seems, is a mutally exclusive event.

I think I've come up with a theory that explains it.

Each religion's god says, "I am the one true deity" because they are... in a sense.

You see, when it's time for the final battle of good vs. evil, deities from each of the religions will join together like Voltron or Captain Planet.

Jesus, Buddha, Allah, Gaia (that's the earth mother, if you're not familiar with Wicca), and Vishnu (multi-armed god of Hinduism) will all put their power rings into a circle and combine into the ultimate deity, Captain Righteousness.

Then they can at once combat evil, pollution, and the sins of man.

It can't.

Buddhism has no diety. Well, no real dieties. Some metaphorical ones used to teach concepts.

Taoism has no diety.

BTW, Buddha was a man, not a god. I am a Buddhist, training for ordination.

Actually, I'd think all those gods would just buddy up together, sort of a diety "Justice League".

Are you really a swinger? I've a few friends that are. I'm polyamorous.

Well I hate to throw a monkey wrench in your theory (because I find it amusing) but my religion is first of all polytheistic (believing in many different Gods and Goddesses) and secondly, that our Gods are not the only true Gods out there.

Lökásennä is right. In Wicca and all Pagan religions we have no "one true" God. We are not that egotistical. We believe that all deities are one!
