A guy that was on Yahoo Religion and Spirituality, telling people
to get it together. And someone called him out one night online? And the category froze up for about 15 minutes, at the height
of YA activity, ("Prime Time"), on that persons question calling him out?

You may think that those sexy sitcoms or violent dramas are just entertainment and shouldn't really have serious effects. For any single show that's probably correct, but for too many people, we're not talking about a single show every so often, and it is a problem.

Child psychologist, Dr. Debra Kowalski, explains, "With children having so much exposure to the media, the messages that come across… are very important and they shape how a child sees the world and what a child sees as important. …A lot of the messages related to violence and sexuality can negatively impact a child."

The repetition of violence causes children to become desensitized. The same thing happens to adults, but children are more vulnerable. It also holds true for explicit sexual content. In fact, relatively little exposure to pornographic material at an early age can significantly disturb a child and interact with their sleeping and other behaviors. It can also affect the way they interact socially with peers, as well as foster anxiety and fear in other situations.

Michael Suman, coordinator of The Center for Communications Policy at the University of California at Los Angeles, is doing a three year analysis of the effects of violence on television. He makes the following observations:

"Violence on television, basically, has three types of negative effects on people."

INCREASES VIOLENCE. "…Many studies show that violence on TV actually leads to aggressive, violent behaviors in the world, most prominently through imitation. They see people being violent on TV and they copy them as models. They imitate them."

DESENSITIZATION AND CALLOUSNESS. "People become desensitized. This includes being callous towards people who've been victims of violence." (Ted Baehr, movie and television specialist and publisher of the Christian "Movie Guide", comments, "We say 'it's ok, we've seen it on television. That behavior is fine.' We no longer object to behavior [and language] that a few years ago we would have been insulted by… We've become very desensitized, and it's corrupting.")

FEAR. "It makes them more fearful." Children may have the false notion that violence or abuse is around every corner and that there is no good in this world. While this may be partly true, it is misleading and can cause much damage during the developmental stages of life.

Do you allow your family to watch programming riddled with violence? Does your heart lead you down the path of worldliness, seeking violence? Or are you active in showing your family that true followers of Christ are known as peacemakers in this violence-scarred society? As the old proverb goes, your actions speak louder than your words. What do your actions say?

As I understand it the universe is infinite and therefore it cannot be possible for an omniprescient, all seeing, all hearing god.
Although I don't believe in evolution, I believe in intelligent design. that we were all created in the image of our creators (plural).

In the original biblical texts was the word 'Elohim' which literally translates to 'those who came from the skies', this was replaced by the singular word 'God'. The singular of Elohim is Eloha.

This is all explained in www.intelligentdesignbook.com

The church has over time tried to convince us of this singular god. It's not true. They are deceiving us, but to what end I'm not sure. I don't believe that there is a place for them anymore in modern society - unless they drop the charade and help humanity engage in their own spirituality to connect with the infinite universe of which we all belong.

Would you please pray this prayer, and anyother you know, for the sake of the unity of the Church... Thank you.

May God all mighty- The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost, forgive us our ignorance, our rudeness, our horrible daring to divide Christ among us like this, and our sins, the sins we have committed by dividing the body of Christ- his church, his believers into many parts. May He forgive us for the shameful separation. May we soon, return to being the one body of Christ on earth, as one community of believers, sharing one true identical faith, with many beautiful diverse traditions. With the prayers of the Most Holy Mother of God, St Rita patron of Impossible causes, and all the Saints and Angels of God, we ask this through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Man says, "Don't worry, you worry too much!"
Translation -" I have my own problems, and I don't want to hear it!"
There is a difference between a worrier and a thinker. Worriers just worry. Thinkers do something about it!
Man says, "Just ignore it!"
Translation - "I have my own problems and I don't want to hear it!"
People don't like being ignored. They want to be liked and appreciated. And that is often what sets them off in the first place.
Can you think of any examples?

You go to a nice establishment for dinner, and everyone inside is dressed nice (the sign on the building reads "proper attire please") the people inside are pleasant and enjoying a very nice meal, then in comes a person with a backwards ballcap on, bluejeans hanging off his @ss ( he must share them with his fat brother I guess), behaving like a jerk-off? I have seen this. The sign on the building is not a suggestion - it is a kick in the crotch to the family who opened the establishment for someone to disrespect policy like this.

Okay, so i've been many religions. I was raised Pagan, choosing a Wiccan path, i've been to baptist churches, methodist churches, evangelical churches, claiming membership in each for a short while. I've been a satanist, I very nearly converted to Islam, and am currently in a Mormon church.

I AM NOT HAPPY!

I find answers, then I stray. Here's the deal: I'm not a no-alcohol, no-premarital-sex sorta person. I'm just not. I'm 17, I'm pierced, I'm tattood, I like getting drunk, I love my boyfriend, I'm bisexual - I just don't 'fit' in Christianity!

Some days, I hate the church - I want to rebel against everything it stands for, and I feel powerful, but empty.

Other days, I love the gospel, but I still don't like the church!

C'mon people, help me out here! Answers, anyone?
