She figures in the first book of the Bible and in the last one, the Woman.
She is not to be adored or worshiped, but honored as the mother of the Saviour, who gave her assent to God in place of Eve's non-consent.

She is still very much alive, since Jesus promised those who believe in Him will never die but have eternal life.

No. She was just another sinner who needed the gift of salvation that Jesus gave us.
Worship no man or woman, only God.
Jesus was God in the flesh.
John, chapter 1
"1": In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John, chapter 1
"14": And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

I think Christians do love Mary. We respect her and know that she was honourable in God's sight. The difference is some don't worship her at the same level as they do Jesus.

Mar 3:33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
Mar 3:34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
Mar 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

No, smart guy, the Bible says to follow Jesus in every way, but specifically excludes loving his mother.. it's in the back somewhere.

Jesus didn't tell us to do that and neither did the rest of the new testement books. We can love her like any other human, but she is not above anyone.

How can one love someone who' s dead? We can love the memory and what she was. We CAN love Jesus, because he' s alive. But that's a mystery we can't explain even to ourselves, let alone to unbelievers - it's part of faith.

Of course, this is why we Catholics get accused of worshipping Mary just because we love Her as the Mother of Christ.
