My last name is Tang. I'm Vietnamese, but Tang is a Chinese last name, so is this weird?

It's not at all weird. Your name has three phonemes - t, a, ng - the same three in that order signify something in English and probably any other language that has the 'ng' phoneme. They are all common phonemes so I would expect to find the combination 'tang' in lots of languages.

Many Americans are named Jones, but so are many British people. There are numerous other examples, ie, Smith, Davis, Nelson, etc, where different people have the same or similar surnames and are from different countries.

i don't know if it's necessarily wierd. Is your father, or your paternal ,grandfather, or your paternal great grandfather from China? This could explain it.

maybe your grand,grand.grand...parents were Chinese or something.everything is possible.so,no not that weird.ask your parents,maybe they know.
