I have been reading about Islam and agree with most of its teachings. However, there are some things that i refuse to follow if I convert to Islam. I don't want to follow the dress code...I shouldnt have to cover my entire body to be respected. Long sleeves and hijab aren't for me. I want to wear shorts and tank tops in the summer!!!! LOL. I think forcing just the women to be covered is degrading and unfair. Can I still be a muslim if I don't follow this? Also, I don't agree that it is haraam to drink alcohol. I think a glass of wine every now and then is ok...especially since recent studies have shown that the moderate intake of alcohol is beneficial for your health. Can I still be a a muslim? I think my faith in Allah and my morals of being a generous and loving person are what is important...not how I dress or what I drink/eat. Please help.

I together with my bf for 5 years.
There are lots of good memory in our love. But ...also lots of fights because we got lots of comunication problem .We ever separeate 1 year. Than he came back to me. But now...again...we fight again and no keep and touch for 3 monthes. I am so helpless about this situation. I try to ask lots of ways...like fortune-telling...All fortune-telling told me that our love is over... I really sad...I can not believe it is true. We met each other and had lots of happy. But now...tell me it is over...I don't want to just give up.Can I do something to get back my love? Can I do something to let out love contiune? Can I pray?how?I really treasure our love ...but I really don't know why we always fight!!! I am very very upset...If you have advise please teach me

If you could tell me something about this.
I'm Italian,aged 31 and in 2003 I spent one year in London where I attended a school of English and also worked part-time in a shopping centre.I loved living there and there are a lot of positive things that I still remember about life in the UK.
Unfortunately,i cannot say that I met and became friend with any real British person during my staying.I had a lot of friends there but they were all from other countries.I worked with many local people but nobody gave me ever the chance to talk to him/her.
So,I came back to Italy without having met a British friend or even acquaintance.
However,during the last days I posted here some important and serious question and i must say that I got very caring,sensitive and sensible answers from you.
Now,my question is,are normally British people shy,not very sociable or what?Is it easier for you to talk via the internet rather than face to face?

"Muds trying to get out and infect the rest of my White World occurred last night. An entire family of lowland gorillas attended Saturday night services at the Methodist Church my wife and I attend. I toyed with the idea of confronting them with, [speaking to the dad] "look around, you're the only of your kind here, surely there are black churches in DC, aren't there? and Speaking as one man in this Church of hundreds, YOU AND YOUR MUD FAMILY ARE NOT WELCOME HERE, GO HOME!!"

But I don't think that wouldn't have set well with the Pastor or the rest of the ******-friendly congregation, especially one member, whose daughter has gone and married a mud, and now she's of the mindset to "love ALL God's children", at first, it upset her that her daughter would marry a mud, but now, she's gotten used to the idea of someday having babyshit brown grandchildren and she just LOVES the idea and her son-in-law;I tell y'all, it makes me want to VOMIT.

Why doesn't more churches speak in tongues I wonder?

1 Corinthians 14:22
Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not; but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.

1 Corinthians 14:23
If therefore the whole church be come together into one place and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are UNLEARNED, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

Where in the bible does it say speaking in tongues was just for the Apostles, or was done away with?

Matthew 5:32 says "But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery."

As a gay man, I have been accused of sinning by giving in to my "fleshly desires," even though I'm monogamous.

Jesus is very clear here that marrying a divorced woman is equivalent to adultery.

Jesus Christ said these precise words about divorce. This isn't the Old Testament, this isn't St. Paul. It's Jesus.

So is every man who marries (and remains monogamously married) to a divorced woman committing adultery?

Therefore should he (and she) be prevented from (a) membership in a church (b) access to communion (c) preaching and ordained pastorate and (d) burial via a Christian funeral?

There is no record of Jesus saying anything about homosexuality. Why then are gay people prevented from these things when Jesus exact words are often openly ignored?
