I asked a question about spanking and 69% of believers think it's ok to hit a child!!!! If at any point I thought that maybe we should respect people's right to believe and practice their religion...now it's gone!

I want to produce a definitive list of single line statements as to what people's arguments are for Gods existence. I don't want anyone arguing against them, just all possible "proofs" of Gods existstence. By God I really mean "a single superior being that watches over us and can affect our lives". I don't want people bickering over this definition either - I'm only stating it like that so people don't give me proof of superior Aliens on a another planet.

Additional rule: Answers must be phrase as an answer not as another question (i.e. "God must exists because how else could ... ?)

I'll get the ball rolling:
1. When you look around the universe, our planet, our body - it's all so intricate there must be a designer
2. When you move back in time to the Big Bang - something must have set that off

A few friends of mine and I want to volunteer with a nonprofit organization. We want to make sure, though, that we volunteer with an organization that has fellow volunteers around our age (between 20 and 25). To be brutally honest, we'd like to be able to meet women at the events.

We live in Orange County, CA (Newport Beach, specifically). Any ideas? We're pretty big on environmentalism, but we don't know where to start.

Local churches are out of the question, by the way.

I am Co-Captain of a "Relay for Life" team in Huntsville, Texas and the theme for the event is "Relay Goes Loco". The date of the event will correspond with Cinco De Mayo, so the overall theme is Mexican. We have named our team "The Hot Tamales" and I was considering doing a Pinata Bust and getting some organizations to donate some nice prizes. We would advertise the prizes but in the pinata have numbered chips to correspond with a prize list. We would charge to take hits at the Pinata and only those who have paid would be allowed to participate in the scramble after the pinata busts. Does this sound feasible?

A world of solid ground with people and trees, oceans with clouds above it and, higher still, the enormous emptiness of space?
Are you one of the billions of people in that world?
If you answer "yes" to those questions, then you are mistaken!
If you were able to answer "yes" to them, then that means that throughout the course of your life you have probably ignored a most important truth.

Surely after right because the Qu'ran says say to the people of the book we believe in the revelation sent down to you and our God your God...but if it is after Why do Muslims say the Quran was handed down because it is corrupt? Does the Qu'ran call it corrupt? or is it guidence and light? Does the Qu'ran teach it is both holy word of God and it agrees with its revelation but it is also corrupt? Is it both Holy and corrupt?

If a woman is pregnant then yes a person should give up their seat for her, but I don't think women have a right to demand that men give up their seats for women just because they're women. I thought Rosa Parks put an end to that.

We keep being cautioned that "people are different out there." While this comes mostly from other city folk, a few things lead me to suspect they might be right.

We have a nice time when we're in the town, but. "It's different when you're just tourists" is the consensus.

I pointed out that I wasn't the type to show up on neighbours' doorsteps announcing my arrival with a pie in hand, but get "Maybe that's what you have to do..."

If you're in a rural area -- what's the general feeling on refugees from the city?

If you've made a similar move -- what did you do?

The town is within commuting distance to where we live now, but seems pretty free of urban transplants. I'm leery of us looking like the advance party for a pile of outsiders...

I'd assume we just move and be normal, but the comments are making me wonder if there's more I need to know. Do we need to make noticeable attempts to become part of the community; if so, how?

The brain is a machine. It stores memories. It performs nonconscious operations such as heartbeat rate, creation of vision and color, etc... Most of what the brain and body does does not require any "knowledge" or awareness. They are operations that are done without our awareness like the digestive system. We have no control over these operations.

IF we are not the machine, who are we? Who is the witness, who is the experiencer?

If a guy is nice to me or if he establishes a simple bodily contact or eye contact, a few days later i end up feeling something for him, i mean i "think i might be in love" kind of feeling. I know this is psychological but i don't know what kind of disorder it is. I think i keep on receiving the wrong signals from guys if you know what i mean. Fact is, i never had any relationship with a guy before. What is this?

We are in the age of the global market. Anything in America can find its way around the world over night. We are hyperlinked to everyone else. Racism thrived on the fact that this didn’t exist. Racism took hold because there was a "dark alley" of seclusion where it could develop into practices that could soak an entire culture. In our age where no one can do wrong without the world knowing over night,,, is it possible that racism will ever become a problem again. esp in a globalized country like America

It's like people who look for the Loch Ness monster. They are so invested in this myth that they don't want to live in a universe without the Loch Ness monster. They have faith in the Loch Ness monster, and as for religion, it tells the ultimate fantasy of a savior, of the supernatural. Too make a long story short, life can be unbearably mediocre and boring without devotion, and religion is single-handedly the most available form of devotion.

I manage a restaurant(a fast food one), and just yesterday, I was called several abusive names whilst trying to resolve a customer issue(I am ALWAYS 100% professional and polite), and was shouted at so much by one person who rang up to complain that I hung up on them, a first for me as I can normally take whatever the disgustingly mannered public can throw at me, after ten years of doing this.

However, I am always amazed when I go into over places and hear people complain, they are so much more reserved and polite, where as me and my other managers are often subject to personal attacks and appalling language. What is wrong with people that they think they can talk to us this way?
