No. More likely the other way around.
The European public protested loud and clear about America's involvement in Iraq, and other issues like extraordinary rendition from 2003 to 2005.
However, after the Madrid and London bombings, the Muhummad cartoon backlash, unrest in France, anti-Semitism in Iran and emerging visibility of anti-Western Islamist young men in their countries, European sympathy to Arabs and Islam has gone cold, and jokes about Bush have kind of worn thin.
Notice how during the Israel-Lebanon conflict there were fewer indigenous Europeans protesting than they would have been a few years back?

I don't think it's an offensive question.
If you want to understand better why America (not Americans as people) is hated so much, read "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man".
The United States has been manipulating the economies of other countries whose resources we want at the bidding of companies such as Bechtel and Halliburton for decades, and we've been ruining the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
It should NOT surprise us if there is a strong reaction to that.

"Islamophopia" is not a world problem. Maybe in countries where constant "alert" status is all you see on T.V. but the whole big, wide, world, doesn't see the people of "Islam" as people they need to fear.
"Anti Americanism" is a "generalization" placed on Americans because of their "general" lack of knowledge about what is going on in the world.
Both "ism's" you have brought up are made by uneducated, closed minded people.
I'm just a polite, igloo building Canadian so what do I know?

anti Americanism exists with or without Islam. Its not difficult to see why. The country is run by belligerent oil hungry insecure bullies. The population is becoming as backward as the middle east as it is consumed by evermore infantile interpretations of the bible.

I see islamic killers of innocent people and suicide bombers. I have yet to see any real [non-muslim] American do such horrible crimes against humanity.
