How can the death penality be ok? Killing is killing is killing, right?

2007-01-06 22:20:54 · 18 answers · asked by heidi v 1 in Society & Culture Religion & Spirituality

Read the Bible, "If this hand do sin then cut it off" or near to that

Does that mean if you steal we cut off your hand?... I don't think you make a very good point.

You say killing the guilty is ok, but could you kill someone and feel ok with that especially knowing that they may have been faulsly proven guilty?

In today's world nothing goes obeying Bible.
USA's attack to Afghanistan and Vietnam was never allowed in Bible.
Pre-marital sex is never approved in Bible.

How many of Americans remember them. When you never raised question in those situation then stop asking now also.

Who can KILL many people, any of us can KILL him/her. This is my opinion and I don't care whether Bible or my religion approves that action or not.

Well how is murder morally right?
U think it's ok for the murderer to kill innocent ppl?
How do u expect criminals to fear doing crime if they know they will be locked up and given every privilage they need?? food, shelter, education, healthcare.. things that might not have been available for them outside prison
u think murder does not deserve punishment? it deserves the ultimate punishment and that is to die as he has killed before.. how did he feel while killing those ppl?? satisfied? exctatic? exited? horny? well a person like that IMO does not deserve to live while he deprived his victims from that privilage.. and btw he gets a better deal cuz most murderers torture their victims until death or rape them.. while the death penatly just kills them a merciful death..
Why do u accept to pay money to make the lives of criminals better?? u think a serial killer will one day be a good citizan when he is 80 or 90 years old?? **** him i would rather see him dead.
u try enforcing the death penalty in all states and see the crime rate for murder going low.. check the countries that support the death penalty and compare..

Would you rather spend $50,000 or more in taxpayer dollars a year PER PERSON to store a person until he dies, while providing him with three hots & a cot, free medical, cable tv, free college education, etc.? The California prison system alone had over 160,000 people incarcerated as of 2005. California spends over 1 BILLION dollars a year on prison health care alone!
I say take all the muderers out behind the courthouse after their appeals run out and put a 90 cent bullet in the back of their heads & save us the headache of taking care of them until they're feeble little old people! Do you think anyone really benefits from them sitting in a cell for the rest of their lives? Certainly NOT their victims! Kill 'em all & let God sort 'em out!

There is nothing wrong with executing murderers. The problem is juries occasionally convict innocent people and it's very difficult to get convictions overturned.

EDIT - Studies have also shown that it actually costs more to execute a prisoner than to incarcerate them for life. Some other answers have erroneously said otherwise. Oops, didn't see that the person above me said the same thing.

How is spending millions keeping the scum of the earth alive while innocent people pay for it right?

Edit: I am only for the death penalty where there is no question as to the crime. e.g. Paedophile caught with video evidence of doing the act. Circumstantial evidence cases should be life prison in case. Your point is fair enough about potentially Innocent people.

It is OK if it is done on the right manner, for instance admonish to other to be careful and to know what is the consequences of murdering an innocent person, doing an inhuman action in the society, or any plot against a nation/nations.

Well yes. Killing is killing. Do you really want to support a murderer for the rest of his life? Feeding him, clothing him, and paying for his education? To keep the rest of us safe, the dangerous criminals need to be exterminated. The safety of the people should come first. God in heaven will decide who is right or wrong regardless, if that is what you believe. But God is not down here in our homes physically protecting us. That is OUR job.

I am not pro death penalty, but one can argue anything..here goes-there are some crimes so hideous (serial killing, for example) and some criminals so monstrous that even the remotest risk of their escaping back into the society is not worth it; the only way to absolutely protect society is to exterminate these individuals for the safety of society at large

NO!In the New Testament version of the 10 Commandments states;"Thou shalt not kill. The original from the 'Tenach','Torah',Pentateuch, etc. states;"Thou shalt not MURDER". That clear it up? To kill is one thing, murder, another.
