The Bible's accuracy and reliability have been proved and verified over and over again by archaeological finds produced by both believing and nonbelieving scholars and scientists. This included verification for numerous customs, places, names, and events mentioned in the Bible.
One among many examples is the fact that for many years the existence of the Hittites (a powerful people who lived during the time of Abraham) was questioned because no archaeological digs had uncovered anything about them. Critics claimed the Hittites were pure myth. But today the critics are silenced. Abundant archaeological evidence for the existence of the Hittites during the time of Abraham has been uncovered.
Bible scholar Donald J. Wiseman notes, "The geography of Bible lands and visible remains of antiquity were gradually recorded until today more than 23,000 sites within this region and dating to Old Testament times, in their broadest sense, have been located." Nelson Glueck, a specialist in ancient literature, did an exhaustive study and concluded: "It can be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a biblical reference." Well-known scholar William F. Albright, following a comprehensive study, wrote: "Discovery after discovery has established the accuracy of innumerable details, and has brought increased recognition of the value of the Bible as a source of History."
There are more than 24,000 partial and complete manuscript copies of the New Testament. These manuscript copies are very ancient and they are available for inspection NOW. there are also some 86,000 quotations from the early church fathers and several thousand lectionaries (church-service books containing Scripture quotations used in the early centuries of Christianity). In fact, there are enough quotations from the early church fathers that even if we did not have a single copy of the Bible, scholars could still reconstruct all but 11 verses of the entire New Testament from material written within 150 to 200 years from the time of Christ. Bottom line: The New Testament has an overwhelming amount of evidence supporting its reliability.

Friend I will not give you the 3d degree, But I will give you truth, & that can be as high as the 12 degree. You ask a question, then you answer your own question & then you leave doubt, So you mind is going 3 different ways, Is the Bible Actually True, YES, You didn't think so, But you did not say it is not actuall true, only that you didn't (THINK) so. Then you turn around & say, You never know. So friend The bible is true, & it does not matter what you or anyone else thinks, God word is always true, & when you said but you never know, Yes a True Christian does know. And I know after serving God for almost 37 yrs.

Well the truth is in there, but what you have to understand is man has written it, God's word, or man's well more like God's word written by man but misunderstood, and the true meaning lost, in many cases man has used the religion to control people with threats, of going to hell and so on, kill in God's name and you will receive, yeah false promises. For some religions it's the only way to get people to follow god. Lots of things written in the bible are wrong and can you can see this on a simple thing like God made the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th, OK what was a day, there was no such thing at the time the world was made, or the bible written, it says that we are created in Gods image, OK what was God's image, God is not a being, not a human, but how would you explain this to others how we got here, how we began, the simple minds of those days would not understand about living organisms in a pond somewhere getting together, so lets call the first male, and female Adam & Eve, however people of today still look at this and think that we started as two human beings, I believe that the Bible, God, and evolution to together, no one can prove otherwise.
God is there for us, we just need to find him
Love & Peace

The Bible is not 100% accurate but, there are some things to take into consideration before declaring the Bible an invalid source to believe in. You ask a lot of good questions.
There are some problems with the Bible and errors. Please remember, the Old Testament was passed down by oral tradition before the technology of writing was available. Compared to the Quran which existed long after the technology for writing was invented. So, yes there are errors.
Secondly, there are different ways to interpret based upon the "literary forms" of writers. Depending whether it is in a historical context, prophetic, poetry, or some other type of literary form. I believe Jesus Christ IS THE WORD of God. The Bible is written by people inspired by God.
If you took a Bible course and discovered what SCRIPTURAL TYPOLOGY is you would be amazed. If you knew what SALVATION HISTORY was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.
We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's IT IS WRITTEN.
WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible that are not fictitional characters) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.
The thing that might shock you and others is that SATAN used scripture to tempt Jesus. So, too Satan will use scripture to trip us up from following the true faith. This is why there has to be DIVINE AUTHORITY that passes from the Old Testament to APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION in the New Testament. This is why someone cannot Authoritatively pick up a Bible and correctly interpret it nor can there be millions of interpretors to HOLY SCRIPTURE. There can only be one!

Something happened but the trouble is which disciples books should be included in the Bible was the main way the Bible was looked at. Some 'books' were left out and apparently they didn't tie in with the 'theme' of the whole. Makes you wonder why?

i comprehend the story. I additionally comprehend the story is unoriginal. as nicely to a loss of historic help, many features of Jesus, which Christians right this moment have confidence in, are undeniably comparable or same to religious developments and ideology that preceded Christianity. There are tens of bills of pagan gods of many distinctive cultures who have been stated to have an identical attributes as people who Christians declare Jesus had. Trinity?Trinities have been common in pagan sects until now Christianity became presented to the international. lots of the greater nicely commonplace trinity gods included Mithra-Vohu Mana-Rashnu, Amen-Mut-Khonsu, and Osiris-Isis-Horus. Virgin start?between the pagan cultures that preceded Christianity, virgin start thoughts abounded. The long record of pagan gods born of virgins contains: Romulus and Remus, Zoroaster, Buddha, Mithras, Chrishna, Osiris-Aion, Agdistis, Attis, Tammuz, Adonis, Korybas, Perseus, and Dionysus.

To Julia,
Let's change one word in what you wrote:
If you believe in the Quran, and then you find out you were wrong after you die, what have you lost? Nothing. You're dead.
But if you don't believe in the Quran, and then you find out you were wrong after you die, you'll have some explaining to do ...
See how that works? That's called Pascal's Wager. It's not a valid argument for Xianity because it doesn't take into account the literally thousands of other gods worshiped throughout human history.
