I have recently begun studying with a group from my church. I'm enjoying it very much. I did notice that some members of the church don't attend, especially a very good friend. When I asked her, (this is someone I consider a very Godly person) she said she rarely studies, and really never has. She doesn't quote but she can tell you what is in the Bible. Neither does she participate in Church activities such as our Christmas Boutique.

I find studying the Bible and I mean in depth (we get into scientific proof of the Bible) I have learned more than I ever realized.

What about you? Do you study? How do you study? I'm very curious.

I find most people I don't like are either jerks or a**es & I would still despise them no matter color of skin or religion. These people come in all forms 1 size does not fit all. It's a shame to lump them in because of race or religion. A jerk is a jerk no matter what an a** is an a** no matter what. Any other views on this?

Evolutionary theory says that human beings do not represent the pinacle of creation. We simply are one of the species that, through naturally selected genetic mutations, happened to survive through myriad environmental changes. And as such, we are just highly successful. But then again, so are rats and cockroaches.

Christians (either creationists or those who interpret Genesis as a metaphor) believe God created life and that human beings have a special place in creation. They agree that God DIRECTED creation (either via Genesis account or via evolution) so that it ultimately led to human beings.

Is this dilemma the real debate between biologists and Christians (and others who believe in theistic intervention), whether God wanted to ultimately create human beings or whether we just are among the lucky species to survive?

I want to get my sister something nice but unique for Christmas and I am running out of shopping days. We aren't really close...and I want to avoid the standard things like clothes and items from stores like Bath and Body Works. She likes to read...mostly books like Nora Roberts...but a book isn't unique. She likes the outdoors but isn't into sports. I feel really stuck. Anyone have ANY ideas to help me? my husband recently started working for the amish doing construction...he has only been working for them for 3 weeks and they are sooo nice...they have already started giving us christmas gifts ...my question is what do you give them??they are well known for thier cooking and building and crafting...i am also a baker but how could i bake them anything knowing that they are like the best bakers...the same with crafting something...i have no idea what to give these wonderful kind and caring people that would mean something to them...any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated...also my family was invited to a christmas party by the amish...should i bring something like a passing dish??
