Hector,
I think there is an evolutionary purpose to have a portion of society not engaged the making or rearing of children. This would be gays and lesbians. I think their role is to preserve the culture and religion of the society.
I think I was born gay and can remember feeling gay attraction to men when I was as young as seven or eight.

I believe that if you are gay, you are born that way. Society tries to make it wrong. You cannot change a person's sexual preference no matter how hard you try. It's not a choice they made. They didn't wake up one morning and say, hey, I'm going to be gay today. It's always been in them and a person who has always had an attraction to the same sex but just never acted on it until they were, say, in college, has always had those feelings and will continue to have those feelings.

you will have lots of different answers to this, some think they are born gay some think they choose to be then some like both man and women, so if a person wants both men and women, are they born bi. If a man choses to be gay is he born that way, i think that some guys are born gay, i think some chose to be but I really dont think society has any choice in the matter .can society make you hate the gas companies for high gas prices, can society make you hate a paper company because your toilet paper is to rough? well I really think its a persons choice that their born gay.

I know I had to have been born already predisposed to be lesbian. there was nothing in society that "turned" me gay. that's all stereotypical rubbish. my parents were married 29 years before my father passed away. I was never abused/raped/molested. I never knew anyone openly gay until long after I realized I was. I went to church and Sunday school every Sunday (and yes, you CAN be gay AND Christian!). I have simply always and only ever been attracted to women. I never made any "choice"...and nor does anyone else, gay/lesbian/bi or straight.

As I have stated before, people are born gay.

Whether they choose to be who they are or live a lie is determined later in life.

Oh, and by the way, it is usually "Society" that puts gays and Lesbians in the position of having to live that lie.

Current MEDICAL evidence is strongly supportive of being born that way, but there may be situations where society pushes someone in that direction. Officially, the jury is still out.

Here's the information. The facts, the holes in the facts, and some nice sources from some books. Best I could do on short notice.

Did you know the "born gay idea" went way back to the 1890's? I didn't.

Wonder why we're gay then. Mmh.

I think that if you are gay then you are born that way, but it just takes a while for you to figure out if you truely are or not!

Born that way. Why would anyone choose to put up with all the homophobic bs if they had a choice?
