Do you have a special talent? Are you crafty? Can you bake? Knit? Sew? Draw? Paint? Something handmade by you would be priceless and more appreciated than a gift card (and they never have to know how much you spent!).
Or, how about a framed print of one of Norman Rockwell's doctors?

You could give them a bottle of wine, ski passes (if they ski or board and you know where they go) restaurant gift certificates, See's Candy certificate, or a gift card. Like if they're active, you could get one to Nike Town, if they're crazy about their health (which they might be because they're doctors) you could give a gift card to Trader Joe's or Jamba Juice. .... Oh! And one more thing You can also get them the series of a medical show like House, Grey's Anatomy, and E.R. And with these gifts you can also add these cute candies that are supposed to look like medicine bottles. They are little round hard candies, and you can buy them for many different things like for "sin relievers" "shopping addicts" and lots more. You can buy them at most specialty candy shops. Depends on how good of friends you all are. You could always give them kind of a cute joke present. What about one of those little build a bears dressed as a doctor. You can get it personalized so it says "Dr. so and so" and get a pair of them for the two of them. Hope this helps, dont stress about expensive, its more important that it comes from the heart, not your wallet
