They're too ostentatious. Real pride tends to be subtle, so I always wonder if they're covering up some insecurities.
They celebrate the genocide of my ancestors every year in October.
The loudness. When I was doing one of my newscasts, the Italian women just felt the need to talk so loudly outside the door to the studio! It went over the air. Do they not get how rude that is?
The "real people" mentality. They think they're inherently superior to everyone because of an empire that was there thousands of years ago---yet there wasn't a unified Italy proper until the 1800s.
I'm almost out of space. One more: NIAF. Why are they the only Caucasians who have a civil rights organization? By asking that, I might get sued by NIAF.
If the Italian-American culture as a whole embraced equality more, I wouldn't have ANY problem with it. But until it does, I do.
And for the record, NOBODY I know who is actually from Italy acts that way! It's an Italian-American thing.
No, no Italian in my biological family. My father was full Cherokee, mother is Irish and Black Dutch (Melungeon.)
